Connecticut Sun center Brittney Griner’s estranged wife Cherelle responded to her July 30 divorce filing in Fulton County (Ga.) after eight years of marriage, according to TMZ.
Cherelle, a 34-year-old lawyer, is asking the court to award her financial support and explained that there is a “substantial disparity” in income — and she reportedly is “unable to meet her reasonable financial needs on a monthly basis without continued support.”
Brittney signed a one-year, $1.19 million maximum contract with the Sun for the 2026 season, according to Spotrac.
Cherelle listed the separation date as July 24, 2026, as did Brittney in her filing, and said the marriage is “irretrievably broken with no hope for reconciliation.”
She requested joint legal custody of their 2-year-old son, Bash Griner, and wants the court to make a ruling on physical custody and parenting time based on the best interests of the child.
Brittney filed for divorce from Cherelle in Fulton County in July 30, and cited the marriage as “irretrievably broken,” court records showed, per Page Six.
A month prior, Cherelle supported Brittney at a Sun game and pair shared a kiss after Connecticut’s win over the Sky at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville on June 22.
The two married in June 2018 after meeting as students at Baylor University — where Brittney helped the Bears win a NCAA national championship in 2012, completing a historic 40-0 undefeated season.

Yup—divorce lawyers were the big winners with the “Gay Marriage” abomination.
Anyone else like to see a DNA test to confirm that Adam’s Apple in his throat? He’s an also-ran basketball player who managed to get into the WNBA. There’s a video out that shows him horsing around shirtless near a swimming pool and he looks like a guy. The DNA test could confirm what the WNBA suspects, but doesn’t want to find out. Think of all the games that would be forfeited.
I had a terrific vet who came to my house. Charged a lot, but that was easier than getting Daisy Cat into her crate. Got a message from her that she was moving and couldn’t come any more. Then a huge cat crate showed up at my door. A few days later Vet and her”friend” arrived. Lesbian ladies having fun.
I don’t really care who anyone sleeps with. Nonof my business. And I will always miss this terrific, smart vet. Best we’ve ever had.
Plus, I lived in San Francisco for many years, so gays and lesbians do not shock me. In fact, I used to go to church every Sunday with a gay man. Also knew a brilliant gay lawyer there at Baker and McKenzie, famous international law firm with offices all over the world.
