A truck packed with 40,000 pounds of Pabst Blue Ribbon beer vanished in California and police claim the missing haul could be part of a brazen cargo-theft operation that made off with roughly $70,000 in booze in a single morning.

Pabst Blue Ribbon said its truck and beer shipment were stolen, telling the person behind the disappearance that it understood the temptation to brag about having that much PBR, but wished they had gotten it "the honorable way."

Why? Nostalgia. Picture cans of PBR left at the Vietnam Wall for that promised first beer together when they got back to “the world” that would never happen.

There are certain hipsters that have brought the brand back around in bars. I sure don’t understand it.

Well, it was always cheap. No need to leave an expensive bottle at that memorial for some homeless bum to grab, but grabbing a truck load for free is even cheaper, unless they get caught.

I remember watching the Friday night fights when I was about 4 years old back in the early 50s. We used to sing the jingle, “What’ll you have? Pabst Blue Ribbon.” Didn’t know they still made the stuff.

PBR was the premium brand. The cheap brew was Red White and Blue

$70K for 40K lb. Ignoring the slightly less than 1gm/ml for scant ethanol levels and assuming it is pure water at 1gm/ml. that comes to $1.75 per pint. I’m surprised it is that much?
