California is one step closer to banning disposable nicotine vapes — with environmentalists arguing the gadgets’ metals would be better off in electric vehicle batteries.
State lawmakers passed Assembly Bill 762 Wednesday, sending the measure to Gov. Gavin Newsom’s desk for a signature or veto — with repeat violators facing civil fines of up to $2,000.
The bill would permanently ban disposable, battery-embedded vapor inhalation devices containing tobacco products, prohibiting anyone from “importing or manufacturing” them for sale in California starting Jan. 1, 2027.
It would also prevent the sale of those kinds of e-cigarettes starting on Jan. 1, 2028. Those who violate the ban could be found guilty of an infraction and fined up to $500. Separate civil penalties begin at $500 for a first violation and rise to $2,000 for a third or subsequent violation.
Supporters spoke about the need for the governor to sign it, citing the pollution from these devices in our water and land and the fire hazard they pose when they reach waste facilities or are disposed of improperly.
California Public Interest Research Group (CALPIRG) said the devices often end up in the trash or on the ground, littering streets and beaches and leaching toxic chemicals into waterways.
“It is against common sense to pollute our land and water for an electronic product that is used just a few times, serves no beneficial purpose, and creates hazardous waste,” said Jenn Engstrom, state director of CALPIRG.

Well, plut a California Recycle Fee on them - Maybe $10 or so.
They will not be littered or left for long.
And along those lines, put a recycle fee on cigarettes. $1 per cig. Butts will be harvested quickly.
You don’t know what’s in them. Ban them all, and put all the sales infrastructure in jail.

I've been vaping for 13 years and have been cigarette-free for those 13 years. No health issues at all.
Do a little honest research before putting on the tin-foil hat.

Electronic cigarettes instantly made me quit smoking -and I didn’t even WANT to quit smoking.
E-cigs just simply tasted better.
I even went as far as growing my own tobacco plants after the SCHIPP bill was passed by Obama.
Still happily vaping and denying the tax revenue to big government.
I still build my own coils, and still mix my own fluids.
I would have been spending thousands for cigarettes, and am now spending pennies to maintain my habit.
I’m no longer coughing up goo all night long.
I get to sleep all night.
(Until my old bladder wakes me up -but that’s a different story...)
If government were to try to take this away so they can squeeze more revenue, we’ll find a different avenue.

Vaping was the solution to smoking. Marijuana is the new solution. What could go wrong??

I could see this disproportionately affecting BIPOC people and at risk communities. I really hope this new rule only applies to normal, traditional white people. We can’t hold everyone to the same standards because that would be racist.
Bill 762 is all about control. Newsom is a tyrant. He broke the 8th Commandment by stealing the Fire Aid money.
In Calif. the democrats literally hand out drug paraphernalia to the drug addicts.
They are banning single-use disposable vapes, the rechargeable/refillable ones are still “approved” (by “Commie Central Committee” running CA).

The truth they aren’t telling you- nicotine stabilizes dopamine receptors and propylene glycol (used in fog machines) prevents viruses from passing through the lungs. Nicotine also dismantles nanotech assembly, Draco Reptilians hate the taste of it in blood and it historically has been used as a snake/ lizard repellant. During Covid, smokers were least affected by the “virus.” The third ingredient after nicotine salts and propylene glycol is generally glycerin. I was on a pandemic forum when Covid hit and people were joking about putting a fog machine in every room of their house. There’s a bigger agenda here.
