Two Pennsylvania residents have died due to measles, health officials said on Tuesday, the first such deaths in the state in 35 years, with 393 cases of the disease reported across 28 counties so far in 2026.
Both people were unvaccinated residents of Lancaster County, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health, which did not release additional details, citing privacy concerns.
“Because measles was largely eliminated in the Commonwealth for more than three decades, people are not familiar with this disease and don’t fully understand the potential severity of the illness,” said Secretary of Health Debra Bogen.
Measles has surged in the United States this year, with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reporting 2,777 confirmed cases nationwide as of August 20.
The overall 2026 figures represent the highest number of U.S. cases in a single year since a major resurgence of the highly contagious disease in the period between 1989 and 1991, with more than 55,000 infections and 123 deaths.

Two Americans??? Guatamalians? How old? Details don’t really matter, right?
Gee I guess Trump wasn’t president during 1989-91 when it was worse, but they are blaming him and RFK for these 2 deaths.
My guess would be Amish (the real ones) given the location.
The TDS of the libtards has gotten out of hand.
Just maybe it has something to with all of the unvaccinated illegal alien invaders.
Could be Amish. But the “news” people want to make it look they were some sort of RFK loving anti-vaxxers.
Cultural Enrichment is taking off !
RFK Jr. made an interesting point the other day while being grilled by Dana Bash who was basically accusing him of being a vaccine denier. He noted there’s currently a worldwide surge in measles cases and said the US is part of the pattern.
Or they're fully aware of the potential severity and assumed the risks.
After all, the Maryland Man, Kilmar Abrego García,. was not only not a
I’m betting these two people are adults...maybe 30 to 50..
I just read ...Amish...but who knows. Age would be nice...
That’s what I just read...but I’ll take a wait and see. The age wouldn’t violate any right to privacy.
Probably Amish, they dont get vaccinated.
Lancaster county - Amish country. I don’t know If Amish believe in vaccines.
Saw this earlier… both over 80.
Is this the same measles we all got in the 1960s?
Over 80 and they never had before?
Don’t worry if you missed the first round. There are likely many more to come.
