Move 37 Is the Moment AI Changes Everything. It’s Suddenly Happening Everywhere.

A decade ago, a computer did something that no human would have done. It was considered a breakthrough for AI. Now the world is full of them.

The first glimmer of our AI future revealed itself a decade ago in the form of a single black stone.

It happened during a historic match between one of the world’s best Go players and AlphaGo, a computer program developed by Google’s DeepMind lab to conquer this ancient board game. The artificial-intelligence system stunned everyone by winning their opening showdown. In their next encounter, with millions of people watching online all over the world, Lee Sedol took a midgame smoke break to calm his nerves.

When he came back, he looked at the 37th move. He couldn’t believe his eyes.

Go, like chess, is a strategy game with black and white pieces that unfolds one move at a time. As he stared at the black stone that AlphaGo dropped on the board, Lee saw a move that no professional Go player would have made. In fact, the DeepMind team calculated the chances of a human playing it at one in 10,000.

The novel move was so unconventional and counterintuitive that nobody could be sure what to make of it. At first, commentators believed it was a strategic blunder. They soon realized it was a masterstroke.

“This move,” Lee said, “made me think about Go in a new light.”

Ten years after that illuminating Move 37, the entire world is suddenly beginning to feel like one massive Go board.

There have been so many recent AI breakthroughs that remind me of Move 37 that I called Google DeepMind co-founder...

I asked AI how to train my puppy dog to signal when she needs to go out to pee. AI advised get a string bell and attach it to the exit door. AI assured me the puppy will learn real fast to jostle the string which causes ringing sound. Guess what, my dog ignores the string-bell and runs away if I ring it by shaking the string. It has been 6+ months with the string-bell experiment. I will soon take the string-ring down and toss it in garbage.

My puppy dog learned on her own to bark loudly when she needs to pee, and bark much more loudly when she needs to poop. I think in this case, my dog was smarter than AI.

Only thing you need to understand women is to know that women only want to impress other women.

If women dressed to impress men, they wouldn't dress at all.

And boost our electricity rates higher

... as well as gobble up all the DRAM and SSD chips, sending retail prices into the stratosphere. Even HDD prices are now being affected.

That leaves out the vast majority of time when it is just the male and the female together.

Current AI is totally dependent on a) the data it is fed b) The algorithms and programming that tell it how to use the data.

1) AI data in incomplete. The areas of incompleteness are not uniform. Incomplete data is clustered in certain areas. This makes AI biased.
2) AI cannot tell the difference between fact and fiction, fact and opinion. Example: It treats data from SPLC as fact when it is opinion. It treats Cabot Cove ME and Spart MS as geographic fact when it is fiction.
3) AI is intentionally programmed to not be racist. Thus, it cannot relate factual data about race in crime statistics, effectiveness of attempts to fight racism.
4) AI algorithms and logic to process data is full of arbitrary guidelines. Much of this is for good reason and the difference between NARROW and GENERAL AI. NARROW AI is focused on driving a driverless car, or finding the cause of an illness, or other narrow task.
At the edge of the narrow scope AI makes many errors.
But General AI makes even more errors due to its lack of expertise in a specialty.

Current AI can be improved. There are 5 or 6 brands of AI. If one AI does better at accuracy and a 2d does better at speed and a 3d does better at cost efficiency which is going to get the market share of the business and money?

That is correct. Women do nothing to impress the man they are with. They already know what the men want LOL. Every dress, every jewelry, every make up, every hair style women wish for and acquire is to impress other women.

It would make a great sci-fi movie, but how could anyone write it?

The company that buys the other two and merges the technology.

The mystery of women isn’t how they dress or their motivation for it, it is the mystery of how their minds work, that is what has stumped mankind for all time.

The one that can leverage the others to its advantage.

It’s become popular for the developers of these bots to embed within them a “constitution” or a “soul” document. Here is an article on Claude’s 23,000-word document: https://youmind.com/blog/claude-constitution-ai-alignment-guide

There seems to be a view in the tech bro space that all we need is more data or rules or documentation etc., and the bots can achieve human-level cognition. To be fair, models and neural networks and chatbots have come quite a ways. They CAN do some interesting things.

However, they will never be sentient, or anything close to that. Why? Because every soul has moments - more precisely split-seconds - where decisions are made and we later ask “where did THAT come from?”

Maybe THAT was based on years of ethics, experience, or preferred patterns. Maybe in those high-pressure moments, the brain acts in a way that can’t be predicted…and may not be repeatable.

Or, if we are honest, there is the Holy Trinity that works in ways that NOBODY understands in those moments.

Think of the times when a ball bounced in front of your car and you swerved left and missed a child; if you’d swerved left you’d have killed little Mary. In addition, ‘Something” told you to take a different road and you avoided an accident. And then there was that time you give a killer answer on an interview to a question from left field that you couldn’t have worked out that spectacularly with preparation…and you got you that job. You met your spouse due to a chain of events that were impossible, improbable, and baffling.

There is a saying, man plans and God laughs. Perhaps we can update it as God laughs at Techbros and PowerPoint.

RoboCop is programmed with four prime directives by his corporate creator, Omni Consumer Products (OCP):

  1. Serve the public trust
  2. Protect the innocent
  3. Uphold the law
  4. Any attempt to arrest a senior officer of OCP results in shutdown (initially classified)

I think what is taken for AI being sentient is a hacker down in the bowels of the CIA.
