Your welcome. I’m sure that anybody here who has researched their family history can find many such examples.
I just watched the reboot of “Little House on the Prairie” on Netflix. It’s an excellent example of grit, huge setbacks, perseverance, and the tough life on the frontier. The Ingalls left the “Big Woods” in Wisconsin and traveled to get widely publicized “free land” in Kansas. When they got there they learned that the land was NOT in the Homestead Act. Like other pioneers, they went ahead and built their own log cabin by hand on Osage land. They were hoping the Osage would be evicted and they would get their land for free. The nascent railroad had essentially promised that in their handbills. In the end, the Osage WERE evicted but the government decided that the settlers had to BUY their land for $1.50/acre instead of getting it for free under the Homestead Act. Many of the settlers could not afford to buy the land because wild prairie fire had destroyed their first year corn crop, their savings were gone, and they owed the general store money. So the Ingalls abandoned the farmstead they had toiled on for two solid years and moved on, effectively kicked off their land by the government and railroad. It was quite the juxtaposition — the Indians dispossessed of their centuries-old ancestral land and the newly arrived settlers robbed of two years of hard toil by scheming railroads and government.
I have to laugh when people today complain how hard it is.
I highly recommend the Netflix 10-episode series. It’s very well done. Sorry to put up the spoiler, but it helps frame this discussion and provide more perspective about today’s whiners and complainers.
Per my Quicken data and without changing our diet at all, I paid 3k less for groceries last year than the average for the last 5 years. So food prices have come down for me.

My prediction is that if the Iran war continues to simmer as it has been, the Iranians will launch an all-out attack in October on a variety of targets in the gulf and do some significant damage to oil production, perhaps with Russian and Chinese help. Fuel prices will spike to $200/barrel. The media will run with it 24-7 (think Tet Offensive) and attempt to do maximum damage to the Republicans in the run-up to the mid-terms.
That is not an unreasonable guess. I figured they would do something close to elections in an effort to damage Republicans. However, unless we can land a knockout punch, we will just have to take it.

Here again is another example of where you *EXPECT* freepers to know things, and they just don't. STUXNET was a joint project between Israel and the US, but the Israeli agents got that virus into their nuclear system. It destroyed many thousands of centrifuges.
Israel has been murdering Iranian nuclear scientists by the hundreds, and by killing some of them, have convinced others to become agents of Israel.

Yes there is, and it all boils down to the lesser of two evils. I think between a nuclear armed Iran and an affordability crises, I pick the affordability crises.
