New poll delivers brutal verdict on Trump’s Iran war: not worth it

Two-thirds of Americans believe the war in Iran has not been worth fighting.

A new AP-NORC poll found that roughly two-thirds of U.S. adults say the war that began Feb. 28 is not worthwhile. The sentiment is shared by the vast majority of Democrats (87%) and independents (68%), as well as 37% of Republicans.

The AP-NORC poll, conducted July 23-27, surveyed 1,165 adults and has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3.7 percentage points.

Trump has decided the check finally has to be paid. Hitler could have been stopped in Munich.

To the Neocons, every current enemy is the New Hitler.

That playbook is getting tiresome.

At the time, Khomeini was thought of as a moderate, and the initial government after the Revolution was fairly moderate.

But within a year, almost all the moderates were killed.

Just keep raining munitions. Maybe a few of the other bad actors will shut up and keep a low profile.

Trump’s repeated flip flops and his weak leadership are the reasons behind this bad poll ratings,

“I burned 345 gallons of diesel fuel last week.”

I suspect you are a trucker. As a businessperson, you would largely or totally pass the costs onto your customers.

If an employee, your employer and its customers would pay.

Since you are complaining, you probably own your own rig.

I can't see the entire graphic you posted there.

I will point out that I made a small fortune in an investment back in 2007 that was undertaken on the advice of a close friend and former client of mine. He made major changes in his real estate holdings and other investments in anticipation of the 2008 crash -- and it was based on two astute observations he made at the time:

1. The elimination of the Fed's reporting of the M3 money supply metric in 2006.

2. A couple of small, seemingly inconsequential news stories about a sudden surge in new real estate investment in modern Middle Eastern cities, driven by Islamic tribal leaders from Iraq and Afghanistan who were literally using bags of U.S. cash to finance the construction of new buildings in places like the UAE, Bahrain, and Qatar.

Notice the dramatic spike in commodity prices -- as priced in U.S. dollars -- that occurred right after this.

The long story short here is that nobody has any idea how much of the "cost" of those military campaigns was hidden by the inflation of the U.S. dollar to fund a massive bribery scheme using currency that wasn't reported anywhere.

Worth is unless you don’t give a shit (libertarian losers / isolationists) if China + Iran lord over Middle Eastern oil and gas. Nature abhors a vacuum, so if we leave the Middle East they will rush in to control it. Then you will get the petro-Yuan replacing the US Dollar. Meaning the standard of living here goes down 30%.

Machievelli was right on this one. Same as Vlad the Impaler was right about the Ottomans.

“The problem is it is difficult to see at this point what the end game will be.”

In war, it’s best that certain things come as a surprise, such as the Normandy landings.

It’s time for GB and the USA to pull their weight and invade France.

How did that focus point (9-11) work out for Iraq?

————————————————————————————————

Iraq never had anything to do with 9/11. We attacked Iraq when all of our efforts should have been focused on Afghanistan. That’s where the training camps for terrorists was. Iraq was a waste of blood and treasure.

The Iranian leadership consists of “true believers” who take the koran literally and will do what it takes to force all non-believers (read Christians, Jews, etc) to become Muslim.

Had they developed a nuke (or let’s say a half dozen) the first one would be launched toward Israel. It would not necessarily detonate but would be blown up by Israel defences which would spread uranium all over. Others would be launched toward Saudi arabia, oman, kuwait, maybe one or two toward US allies. Even if one detonated then this poll would be reversed.

The stock markets would crash, oil prices would skyrocket and economies would suffer. Food prices would be higher than anyone imagined.

The US would of course blast Iran into glass. Then the radioactive crap would blanket the earth. The true believers would be happy because they get their 72 virgins.

Think it couldn’t happen? Go talk to one of those crazy Iranian true believers...

Nonsense.

If the Israelis packed up the whole country and Elon had the means and took it all to Mars tomorrow, or even some time back, the need to quash the Iranian regime would only be all the more compelling.

What Trump may eventually figure out is that trying to keep serious distress to the Iranian population from occurring, by fighting a war without taking out some critical element without which the mullahs and IRGC can’t run the country, is a no-go. The regime has counter-strategies, including their “mosaic” strategy, all based on the assumption the US will only go so far. And by prolonging the conflict, we likely end up harming the populace more, not less.

In lieu of not having 10 million or so Ukie style drones on hand (their production for 2026), such that we could smother the IRGC, the critical element I would go after is refined products, after taking out as many more Iranian missiles as possible. Supposedly Adm. Cooper and Gen. Caine already have a new plan for the missiles. In any event, we can rather easily reduce Iran’s refined products supply to essentially zero, even leaving refineries intact except their distillation towers. This WILL be rough on the population, but would be effective far more quickly and have less lasting effect on the population in the long run, than anything else I’ve seen suggested. (Nobody serious wants the US to employ nukes or a truly massive ground invasion.)

Good points. However, along with them is the fact that Trump did not make a public relations setup in advance of the phase after the B2 bombing of the nuke sites.

There should have been propaganda to sway the masses in advance of the next wave of bombings.

As the Dems did with Obamacare “This family has to choose doctor’s appointments and prescriptions or food” and “Millions have no healthcare” and “She lost her job and lost her family’s health plan” before the Dems said “The GOP will let someone die rather than allow the government to save them with our care plan.”
I saw Larry King say that to a GOP Congressman: “You would let him die. Is that true? You would let him go without health care if he couldn’t afford it?”

Without the buildup of support he started off behind and hasn’t been able to catch up. Media pounding about Trump’s War Costing You At the Gas Pump and the Supermarket and Retail Stores has been a top story every day.

And the sad news story of “it will be over really soon” “The Iranians have no bases, no anti air defense and no navy— which we sank” followed by “New demands set down by Iran or Strait will remain closed.”
