A Tennessee mother shot and killed a man she found hiding under her 13-year-old daughter’s bed, according to cops — and now she’s facing first-degree murder charges.
Kendra Scott was arrested after police found a 20-year-old man dead from a gunshot wound in the back of his head outside her Memphis home just before 2 a.m. Thursday, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by The Post.
Her lawyer called the situation, “the worst nightmare of any parent of a 13-year-old girl.”
The 36-year-old mother told officers she came home and “saw a dude under my kids’ bed.”
“And I did what I had to do,” she said, per the affidavit.
The deadly incident unfolded after Scott’s teen daughter told cops she invited the man, Rodderius Morton, to the family’s home at around 1 a.m., according to the court document and Scott’s lawyer.
An enraged Scott started pounding on the front door and bellowing, “Who’s at my house?!” when she arrived home around 30 minutes later, the affidavit states.
Her unidentified daughter grew terrified when she noticed her mom was allegedly holding a gun.
Scott had said that if she “sees a boy in my house I will put a hole in his ass,” the daughter later told cops, according to the affidavit.
The teen eventually let her mother inside, where Scott allegedly found Morton hiding under her bed, the court doc states.
“Get out of my house bitch,” she allegedly screamed, and followed Morton out the front door.

I’d roll the dice on that case unless the prosecutor offered a reasonable deal. Bad optics letting him get out the door before shooting him in the back. Easy win if she had shot him while he was under the bed.
The daughter is likely about to discover the joys of foster care if she doesn’t clarify her story.
Shooting him when he was out the door was a bad move, but all it takes is one holdout for a hung jury.
Sadly, the daughter probably doesn’t even realize that she’s the one responsible for a person’s death (not that he didn’t deserve it). Legally, the mom is wrong if he was leaving, but, morally, she was right. He was there with ill intentions. Hiding under the bed is proof of that.
Yeah, a lesser charge than 1st degree murder would be fair, but she definitely needs to be off the streets for a while.

But a jury of her peers might find her not guilty based on the crime of passion standard.
He was there to commit rape, at the very least. For all she knew, he might come back with friends for revenge and to steal her gun.
One can assume the young girl was raped. The county ought to give the mother a medal and all of the money it would have spent prosecuting the young criminal as well as the money it would’ve cost to jail him years.

All it takes is one juror for a mistrial. Then they have to do it all over again or let it go.

Girl invited man in around 1:00 AM while mother was away.
Mother returns thirty minutes later to find she can't get in her front door so pounds on it while yelling "Who's in my house". Was this heard by the daughter, the neighbor or both? More on the neighbor later...
If mother couldn't get in she either didn't have her key or the door was chained from the inside, which is assumed without additional details.
Daughter apparently let mother in and saw she had a gun in hand, which frightened her. The daughter told the police that's when her mother said she would "put a hole in the ass" of any boy she found there.
Mother went to daughter's room and found man under the bed. He got up and out the front door unshot after the mother screamed at him to leave.
The daughter heard but did not see the shooting - just her mother stating she'd shot the man. The neighbor mentioned in the story physically saw the mother standing by the body with the gun before police arrived, hearing the mother state she'd shot him.
I'd want that neighbor sweated out at the station to learn if they'd actually witnessed the entire incident once it went outside. That testimony might reveal if there was aggressive behavior toward the mother that would greatly aid an argument for self-defense. If there was none and she shot him while he walked away she's guilty of murder, second degree, having already lost 'castle defense'.
Were there any active surveillance or 'Ring'-type cameras nearby?
It would help to know if the man was a 'suitor' who had visited before with the mother's knowledge. Her scene when arriving home indicates she was aware of her daughter's openness for male company. If the kid was a slut and others could affirm that then the mother was guilty of bad parenting before being guilty of murder, thus destroying her case.
The photograph showed them living in a duplex. From my time living in one I can attest to knowing far too much about the adjoining neighbor's activities and lifestyle than I wanted to.

I once dealt with an issue similar to this. A 13-year-old girl is a minor not responsible enough to make the decision to allow him in. However, a grown man 18+ is responsible for his actions. If she had plugged him while he was in the house, it would be a clean shoot. If not, it's another reason I'm glad I live in rural Texas.
