Memphis mom killed a man she found under 13-year-old daughter’s bed — now she’s charged with murder

A Tennessee mother shot and killed a man she found hiding under her 13-year-old daughter’s bed, according to cops — and now she’s facing first-degree murder charges.

Kendra Scott was arrested after police found a 20-year-old man dead from a gunshot wound in the back of his head outside her Memphis home just before 2 a.m. Thursday, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by The Post.

Her lawyer called the situation, “the worst nightmare of any parent of a 13-year-old girl.”

The 36-year-old mother told officers she came home and “saw a dude under my kids’ bed.”

“And I did what I had to do,” she said, per the affidavit.

The deadly incident unfolded after Scott’s teen daughter told cops she invited the man, Rodderius Morton, to the family’s home at around 1 a.m., according to the court document and Scott’s lawyer.

An enraged Scott started pounding on the front door and bellowing, “Who’s at my house?!” when she arrived home around 30 minutes later, the affidavit states.

Her unidentified daughter grew terrified when she noticed her mom was allegedly holding a gun.

Scott had said that if she “sees a boy in my house I will put a hole in his ass,” the daughter later told cops, according to the affidavit.

The teen eventually let her mother inside, where Scott allegedly found Morton hiding under her bed, the court doc states.

“Get out of my house bitch,” she allegedly screamed, and followed Morton out the front door.

And he is dead now. He certainly won’t be doing that anymore.

If the DA wants to send a message, he/she will drop the case. Child molesters should be in fear of an extreme penalty. There was a case I remember that a father caught a man molesting his young daughter and he killed him with his bare hands. All charges were dropped. This woman couldn't do that, but she did have a gun and used it.

And with mama in the joint, he can come whenever he wants to.

With a 13-year old ignorant girl without any guidance or protection, he sure can.

“...I would’ve shot him while he was still under the bed...”

I do remember that exact thing happening in Sacramento in the 70’s. The underage girl was from Ethiopia or Egypt. The father shot him with .22 bullets I do believe. It took a few shots. And the Sacramento Bee? Mighta been the Union. They presented it as a tragic love story.

“I assumed this would be disclosed somewhere in the article, hence the murder charge.”

The problem was that she shot him after he left the house.

Per above “ “Get out of my house bitch,” she allegedly screamed, and followed Morton out the front door.”

it is seldom the wisest tactic to shoot them in their backsides

(there being some legal doctrines, at least in a few far leftst states, along the lines that you’re supposed to let them go if they’re on their way out)

having said that,
actually charging Mama with murder under these circumstances seems excessive, misguided...imho

“it says commission of a felony. I think statutory rape is still a felony, “

He was under the bed. That is not a felony.

“mom was allegedly holding a gun.”

Allegedly. Could explain the bullet(s) in the guy.

Just as guilty here is the 13-yo girl...13 by age. This could have been her first attempted encounter or one in a long line. No way to know. 13-yo could be she was 12 last week or 14 next week.

She wanted what she wanted, resulting in one dead rapist or would-be rapist and one likely convicted killer mother. And the kids? Idk, go to relatives or foster care, I guess.

“Not if he was invited in.”

At her age I doubt that she had authority to invite anyone in, and a 20-year-old perv would know that.

Minors have alone have the authority to invite people into the home.

I would say good kill even if he was running out of the house guaranteed he will not come back and whether he was invited or not does not matter She is under an age to make that decision and he’s of age to know better I read a few cases where men had sex with underage girls even though they consented and they still went to jail

Did she do a rape test when she found them?

Would she even have the mental capacity to differentiate these things, given the state of rage she was in?
