The Third-World Communist DSA is a Real Threat to Republicans

The Democratic Socialists of America, as an institution, has been hijacked by young revolutionaries.

They have turned it into a communist outfit, devouring the Democratic Party from within.

Republicans should not grin with smug self-satisfaction. This is dangerous for them, even though blue moderates and establishment figures feel the heat right now.

Once a marginal group committed to social democracy, DSA has become a major vehicle for third-worldist communism. It rejects everything that made America a first-world superpower. Its activists push open borders, the abolition of police and prisons, the dismantling of constitutional checks, and solidarity with America's enemies abroad.

This is not harmless liberal arts undergrad talk. It is a direct assault on the institutions and initiative that built American strength. It threatens to lock the country into unfathomable decline if left unchecked. Republicans who dismiss DSA as a cringeworthy fad will regret it for the rest of their lives.

Michael Harrington, a secular humanist who came out of the Roman Catholic social justice traditions, founded DSA in 1982 to create a pressure group that would push the Democrats leftward. He wrote rules to rigorously block communists and their influence. Harrington knew from bitter history how such groups destroyed earlier socialist efforts. Nowadays, much like the man himself, his vision of anticommunist socialism is dead.

During and after the Bernie Sanders Democratic presidential campaign in 2016, waves of young, college-educated activists flooded the DSA ranks. They were radicalized by post-Great Recession economic frustration and the conviction that wokeness, despite its rapid ascendance, never went far enough. They were also infuriated with blue gatekeepers who effectively denied Sanders a fair chance at the nomination. With them came Marxist-Leninist organizers who saw opportunity in the chaos.

Edward Michael Harrington Jr. (February 24, 1928 – July 31, 1989) was an American democratic socialist. As a writer, he was best known as the author of The Other America (1962).

Harrington’s estrangement from religion was accompanied by an increasing interest in Marxism and secular socialism. After leaving The Catholic Worker, Harrington became a member of the Independent Socialist League (ISL), a small organization associated with the former Trotskyist activist Max Shachtman. Harrington and Shachtman believed that socialism, which they believed implied a just and fully democratic society, could not be realized by authoritarian communism, and were fiercely critical of the “bureaucratic collectivist” states in Eastern Europe and elsewhere.

After Norman Thomas’s Socialist Party of America absorbed Shachtman’s ISL in 1957, Harrington endorsed Shachtman’s strategy of working as part of the Democratic Party rather than sponsoring candidates as Socialists. Although Harrington identified personally with the socialism of Thomas and Eugene Debs, the most consistent thread running through his life and his work was a “left wing of the possible within the Democratic Party.”

In 1962, he published The Other America: Poverty in the United States, a book that has been credited with sparking John F. Kennedy’s and Lyndon Johnson’s War on Poverty.

In 1988, Harrington said:

Marx was a democrat with a small “d”. [....] The Democratic Socialists envision a humane social order based on popular control of resources and production, economic planning, equitable distribution, feminism and racial equality. I share an immediate program with liberals in this country because the best liberalism leads toward socialism. [....] I want to be on the left wing of the possible.

Harrington died of esophageal cancer in Larchmont, New York, on July 31, 1989.

Nihilism is what has taken hold in this country, which is the natural offshoot of a Godless existence. A country that turns its back on God is on the road to self-destruction. The Democrats were a threat to the Republicans, because the Republicans ooze weakness, form the mojaority of those people elect. Too many are RINOs, too many lack backbones, the majority lack courage, and some are just plain too stupid to see the reality of their opponenets who plauy to win, while they try to go along, to get along.

But the DSA actally presents a problem to this nation, and that is their tendency to commit violence to get their way. I suspect that will eventually be there downfall. At least I pray that is the case. We the people must stand up against them, and if it takes violence to do that, that that must become an option.

The question is, are we too late or will we prevail?

Unfortunately, IMO at first glance, the title "DSA is a Real Threat to Republicans" is a "ho-hum" understatement and many Americans will have little or no interest in reading the article.

The target audience should have been all who were not deeply committed Leftists. A more attractive title would have been, "The DSA is a Real Threat to all of America and the First Casualty will be Republicans".

Success of the threat will turn on the level of discord, chaos and violence achieved. That, in turn, will depend on the number of participants on each side of the issue; whoever owns state and federal governments at the time will have a distinct advantage.

There seem to be at least 5 factions within the DNC struggling for power:

The OLD DNC: Clinton-Schummer-Kennedy and quickly vanishing.
Gay Mafia: Mostly CA and want to turn the USA into San Francisco.
DSA: The most power right now that started with Obama and Van Jones and want to turn the USA into the old East Germany.
BLM: The one with the least power and the most morons.
Muz: Seem to be aligned with DSA but want to destroy the USA and rebuild it as a Muz country.
