Officials charged a 10-year-old Missouri boy with murder after he allegedly shot a 7-month-old baby in the head execution-style June 26, according to a report.
St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (SLMPD) officers responded to the incident just after 4:00 p.m. and found the baby, identified as 7-month-old Kiyomi Parker, within the residence, according to an SLMPD press release. The baby died from her wounds. Homicide Detectives and Child Abuse Detectives later opened an investigation into the incident and learned that an unidentified 10-year-old boy shot the child, the SLMPD alleged. Witnesses said the 10-year-old retrieved a gun and shot the infant, according to court documents cited by First Alert 4. The boy confessed that he shot baby in the head, WTHR13 reported, citing a probable cause statement.
Officers transported Parker to a local hospital in a patrol SUV and administered emergency aid, the SLMPD said. The child was declared dead at the hospital, police said, First Alert 4 reported.
Officers allegedly learned that Ca’Marion Pawnell, the baby’s father, stored a gun beneath a mattress in one of the residence’s bedroooms by interviewing witnesses, including the 10-year-old. The minor confessed that he was aware of where the firearm was and had retrieved it before, according to the court documents.
Pawnell, 19, allegedly confirmed the gun belonged to him and he had placed it beneath the mattress. Pawnell has been charged with one count of second-degree felony murder, one count of endangering the welfare of a child resulting in death, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child creating substantial risk, according to court documents. He remains held without bond, First Alert 4 reported.
Prosecutors charged the 10-year-old with first-degree murder in juvenile court. He’s seemingly the youngest person in the history of Missouri to face a murder charge, the outlet reported.
Pawnell and the 10-year-old’s relationship is unclear, according to the New York Post. A 7-year-old child was inside the residence when the alleged shooting took place, First Alert 4 reported.
SLMPD directed the Daily Caller to its press release in response to a request for comment.

“Kiyomi”
Swedish?
.
Another Black Fatigue article.
Com’on Ca’Marion, you should’ve known better. Well, maybe you di’ int.
This is so SAD. The owner of the firearm needs to be held accountable for not securing it properly.
Japanese?..............🙄
The Devil walks amongst us.
My 9yoa grandson has two 16-month-old brothers.
He just adores them.
I believe he would fight to protect them.
Wow a 10yoa killing a baby to is unbelievable.
Saw lots of things in a 33-year career as a LEO. But I think this tops it.
Thanks. I hope they don’t falter in the prosecution.
If you even went back to the 50’s then you would find that 10 year olds had access to guns all the time. And they didn’t use them to shoot people. This 10 year old was already completely messed up in the head.
He had hidden the weapon under a mattress...................
My grandfather had his gun right by his bed. I never even dreamed of touching it. It was just there like a lamp or a piece of furniture.........
Lots of apostrophes in those names.
Assume that the 10-year-old is the father’s stepson. Father is 19; son is 10? (Maybe I’m reading it wrong.)
My father had a pistol in his nightstand, and when we went on cross-country trips, he kept it in the glove compartment of the car. When we got to Canada in 1969 (and again in 1970) they confiscated it at the border and mailed it back to him. It was always there for him to collect when we returned.
Never once did I touch it, and I don’t think my siblings did either.
When I was a teenager, he added a rifle, and my brothers did handle that, probably more frequently than Dad did.
Truly a sad report.
After seeing ads for bloody, violent movies while watching Independence Day last week, I am not surprised. Lotsa Kids have their heads filled with violence. Not an excuse...but it has to have an effect.
