This is true socialism......France

This is true socialism.

In France.

École Primaire La Planette is a primary school in Nîmes, a town in southern France.

A child recently fainted because of the heat (40 deg). Classes were being taught in corridors to get out of the heat.

The parents got together to raise money for five portable air conditioning units. It took them only 3 days to raise the €2,000.

They installed the units.

Great, you think.

Not according to the current municipal team in Nîmes (left-wing coalition led by communist mayor Vincent Bouget). Bouget has told the school to remove the units because “it sets a precedent” and “in some neighbourhoods, parents don’t have the means to act”.

Yes, you read that correctly.

He is objecting on the grounds that it is unfair to other schools and causes inequality.

,,, 850 or so schools in France were closed at the start of this week because of the heatwave. A heatwave and communist officials is a recipe for hell.

Some guy from Malaysia just today posted on X about how air conditioning made business and industry possible in his country (sort of like it did for the southern US).

If Malaysia can afford air conditioning France could too.

Be a shame if Mayor Bouget and a few of his accomplices mysteriously “disappeared.”

The beatings will continue until morale improves.

Oops!

I meant the heat strokes will continue until morale improves.

Onward the Revolution!

I would think the schools would be over by now. Summer started unless they go year-round.

I don’t have any personal experience, but Wikipedia says that French schools typically start summer vacation in early July.

The Mayor and his “team” all have addresses.

If there were any men left in France they would get a visit from some fathers to help them get their minds right.

That's it, pretty much. Of course I, who am making the rules, will not be killing myself. I'm too valuable.

My paternal grandmother was born and raised in the Nashville area and she “didn’t believe in A/C”. She had 2 box fans, 1 near the rear screen door, and 1 near the front screen door. She made the house a “wind tunnel” of sorts, and was able to weather (heh) the 100F humid days all her life.

My in-laws live in Central Philippines where it’s 90F and 90% humidity sometimes and they don’t have an A/C either.

My folks house in south GA had an attic fan. Loved that thing.

When I bought my first house in Simi Valley Ca, one of the
criteria I had was no air-conditioning.
I also wanted a fireplace but didn’t get one.

The house had a swamp cooler and it worked great.
Only a couple of nights will a little unbearable.
But a damp shirt save the night.
We did end up getting it installed four or five years later.

Nîmes, the humidity today was only 30% during the hottest part of the day. That is not unbearable. Try Richmond Va when it’s 100 and the humidity is 80%.
