Glyphosate-based formulations (GBFs), such as Roundup, are the most heavily used herbicides in the world. In 2015, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) concluded that glyphosate and GBFs are probably carcinogenic to humans, mainly for non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL)...
In 2021, the French Institute of Health and Medical Research... also found that many studies demonstrated genotoxic damage (DNA breaks or structural changes) consistent with the induction of oxidative stress by glyphosate/GBFs, sometimes at exposure levels experienced by human populations...
In a recent study of Thai farmers, a high frequency (97.6%) of those spraying GBFs with backpack sprayers had high dermal and inhalation exposures, with high urine levels of glyphosate at the end of spraying (38.7 ug/g creatinine) and the next morning (37.3 ug/g creatinine)...
In another study, Thai farmers using high-pressure backpack sprayers had similarly high exposures to glyphosate (29 ug/g creatinine) and the urinary half-life of glyphosate was prolonged by 23 hours in those spraying 2...
These new findings should prompt new critical and unbiased reviews of these agents by the US EPA and other pesticide regulatory agencies around the world, including re-evaluation of the current acceptable exposure...

The targeting of glyphosate is because of the war on Monsanto. The left and now the bogus ‘right’ has been in some weird hardest against Monsanto since the Clinton era. I figure that it may be a communist-funded influence campaign because the groups that lead the protest against it tend to be as well.

Yep. Before Roundup there were major famines around the world, but ever since its introduction the source has switched from famine to obesity even in third world countries
A little chunky out here.
The term “pesticide” includes herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, etc.
My mother has 8oz a day. Seriously, she used the heck out of that stuff.
**Before Roundup there were major famines around the world, but ever since its introduction the source has switched from famine to obesity even in third world countries.**
The big changes began in the 1950s, with commercial fertilizer, especially nitrogen (urea, anhydrous ammonia), and seed genetics (especially in hybrids).
As a teen I sprayed the brush killer, 2-4-5-T , in cattle pasture. The stuff was amazing. The next day the leaves were brown, and in 3 or 4 days, falling of the brush.
By 71 or 72 we could no longer purchase it, as it was the very hazardous half of ‘agent orange’ (’agent pink’ was 100% 2-4-5-T).
I don’t doubt the possible hazards of glyphosate, especially since living an hour from Columbia, TN, where the old Monsanto plant property is considered unsafe for residential development. And I have met several people who lost loved ones, that had worked there, and died from cancer.
In the 90s and on, biogenetics have created seed hybrids that kill bugs trying to eat the plant. And by 2005 fungicides went full throttle (literally, by aerial application), greatly reducing fungus damage to plant leaves.
One reason that fungus is so rampant is that the moldboard plow is rarely used anymore. It would bury old plant growth. For the past 20+ years the crop plant residue has mostly been left on top of the ground to rot, unfortunately creating ideal conditions for mold growth. Hence, the ever increasing use of fungicides.
Repeat after me...
“Correlation is not causation.”
RM43 baby!!!
This stuff kills everything...
“The normal home user has nothing to worry about unless they are making Roundup spritzers.”
Well, it IS Friday Night! Bottoms Up, LOL!
Home Grown Hog from the farm next door. You betcha we have bacon. ;)
did you even consider that obesity may be increasing because of improper chemical reaction in the body caused by these chemicals?
Only on the Holidays. ;)
I use Round-Up. I don’t use it in my raised beds - the soil is like BUTTAH thanks to my mule and steer compost and the random weeds are easy enough to pull by hand, IF they make it through my layer of straw mulch. ;)
However - if you are a weed BETWEEN my beds and are making a problem for me, you. are. history!
I was thinking of getting one of those weed flame-throwers but I dialed that back. I would have WAY too much fun with that and no good would come of it. ;)

Strap in, Jim. You do NOT want to mess with Piasa, LOL!
Don’t be satisfied with the 2-3% stuff! Get a spray license and order the 40% concentrate by the 40 gallon barrel.
40 gallon is out of my price point. 🤔😊
