Enough already with these “negotiations” with people that have no intention of keeping their word or of negotiating in good faith about anything. These folks should not be allowed to control the passage through which roughly twenty percent of the world’s oil supply is delivered. It is in the entire world’s security interest to take control of the Strait of Hormuz from the nut jobs in Iran currently in charge. Establishment of a military presence large enough to sustain complete control of the Strait should be the immediate goal along with removal of whatever nuclear threat Iran possesses.
The American people are not starving. How many meals have you missed? 🙄
Amen. But it seems that other countries have barely lifted a finger.
Well to be honest:
“The Strait of Hormuz is not “international waters” in the sense of the high seas: its narrowest channel lies inside the territorial seas of Iran and Oman, giving those states sovereignty over those waters even as the passage functions as an international strait subject to special navigation rules under international law [1][2]”
To be accurate, Portions of the Strait annd shipping are in Iranian territory. That kind of muddles the situation.
The legalities explained.

Yes. So many anti-Trumpers on this site today. Starve Iran out, it doesn't affect us as much as it does our enemies.
I would offer an additional option. The premise of the war is to stop Iran from creating a nuclear bomb and them bombing us with nukes. Since Iran is so bellicose, we should just bomb them with a nuke. A low-yield nuke on their infrastructure and ports, to minimize civilian harm. If Iran does not give in to the USA, hit them again. After all, we got Japan to surrender after two nuke strikes on cities. This time, don't hit the cities.
To accomplish a defeat of Iran, you will have to get Turkey and Pakistan to attack with their large militaries. You would have to have Saudi Arabia and the other Persian Gulf Arab states to commit to a full military intervention. Opening a three front war would be the principal means to taking Iran down. Another round of bombing may soften the target, and it would have to be sufficient to allow the U.S. Navy direct access into the Persian Gulf. Bombing alone will not defeat Iran and the hope for a popular uprising was misplaced.
At this point, it is just the United States and Israel against Iran. Neither country has the means to defeat the Iranian regime and establish a pro-Western government. President Trump will have to negotiate the best deal possible.
I respectfully disagree. According to Brave search AI, Iran has used the Strait of Hormuz for a while to flex its muscle, we've just forgotten:
Based on the provided search context, Iran’s attacks and harassment of ships in the Strait of Hormuz over the past two decades prior to the Iran War (defined in the context as beginning on 28 February 2026) are categorized below.
1980–1988 (Tanker War): Iran engaged in a naval campaign against Iraq, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia, attacking merchant vessels and laying mines in the Persian Gulf and Strait of Hormuz. This period included the 1987 reflagging of Kuwaiti tankers under U.S. protection (Operation Earnest Will) and the 1988 sinking of the USS Samuel B. Roberts by an Iranian mine, which triggered Operation Praying Mantis.
2011: In December 2011, Iranian officials threatened to close the Strait, leading to a temporary spike in oil prices and increased maritime tension.
2015–2024: The U.S. Navy reported that Iran harassed, attacked, or seized nearly 20 internationally flagged merchant vessels during this period. Specific incidents included:
April 2015: Seizure of the Danish-owned container ship Maersk Tigris after firing warning shots.
2019: Seizure of a British-flagged oil tanker, allegedly in retaliation for the detention of an Iranian tanker by UK forces in the Strait of Gibraltar.
2024: Capture of an oil tanker by Iranian special forces as part of a broader attack on Israel.
Key Statistics
Total Incidents (2021–2024): Nearly 20 vessels were harassed, attacked, or seized. 2026 Pre-War Incidents: Over a dozen attacks reported by UKMTO in March 2026 before the formal start of the Iran War on 28 February 2026.
Starving iran is a problem. It can receive shiploads of cargo from russian ports on caspian sea to iranian ports. And,There are rail lines that can be resupplied from china.
Since Iran is so bellicose, we should just bomb them with a nuke
To spout nuking them is sick, our beef is with the Shia government, not the people of Iran. Grow up, Son.

The problem existed, the timing was in the ayatollah’s hands. Don’t pretend generations of Presidents haven’t recognized it.
This is a “multinational problem” that didn’t exist before February 2026.This is a problem that has existed since 1979.
When you have a boil, eventually you have to lance it. The act of lancing it didn't create it.
“no one goes out”
Ever heard of Corregidor?
Should the USA abandon the effort and leave it to the Euro weenies then? Then it’s THEIR problem and the US can continue to use oil sources from Canada and domestic production.
Of course, while Iran’s been restocking, digging in and repairing, we’ve been twiddling ours thumbs / sarc. Anyone thinking that they know every cards in our hand is suffering massive hubris. Case in point w already know, prior to 2 /26, I presume, Israel had built a secret airbase in Iraqi desert, while evading Russian, Chinese satellite surveillamce as well as Iranian.

“there’s one weapon, more than any other, that’s helping take down Russian drones: cheap interceptor drones.”

“The problem is that it really only takes a hit on one tanker to turn the whole situation into a PR nightmare.”
The cost of a new tanker filled with oil might be $200 million.
Consumers are paying about $80 billion/month more for petroleum products.
“American technological skill raised and repaired all but three of the ships sunk or damaged at Pearl Harbor. Most importantly, the shock and anger that Americans felt in the wake of the attack on Pearl Harbor united the nation and was translated into a collective commitment to victory in World War II.”
Please modify your list and remove any of these attacks/incidents that didn't take place in sovereign U.S. territory.
Otherwise, it's like sending U.S. soldiers out onto the frontier and then complaining when the Dakota, Lakota, Cheyenne and Arapaho tribes fought them as hostile invaders.
