Enough already with these “negotiations” with people that have no intention of keeping their word or of negotiating in good faith about anything. These folks should not be allowed to control the passage through which roughly twenty percent of the world’s oil supply is delivered. It is in the entire world’s security interest to take control of the Strait of Hormuz from the nut jobs in Iran currently in charge. Establishment of a military presence large enough to sustain complete control of the Strait should be the immediate goal along with removal of whatever nuclear threat Iran possesses.

You should take a look at a topographical map of that area. With today’s missiles and drones, someone could sit up in those mountains and take shots at ships without ever being caught.
Iran is not being invaded, nor are we holding their territory for very long. It’s a big place with lots of mountains.
Remember, these guys have been “wargaming” against the US for almost 50 years. They practiced their arts in Iraq for a decade or so.
Your assumption that we could “take” and “control” land there would require a mobilization akin to what Russia has done in Ukraine.
This is a multinational problem that would require a multinational solution. Allowing Iran in its current state to dictate its use is a problem that needs to be addressed.
I agree with most of that. While controlling their air from drones is nearly impossible, controlling the water should be possible.
The problem is that it really only takes a hit on one tanker to turn the whole situation into a PR nightmare.
So the only two options we have (the third one is a controlling territory with ground troops and inviting asymetric insurgency, which I assume Trump will refuse outright) is to continue with a stalemate/truce while attempting to control the water and air as best as possible and start escorting ships, or to go on full-tilt offence and see how much ‘we’ can destabilize Iran’s leadership and military infrastructure.
I would suggest that the first step in solving this problem is for the two people primarily responsible for it — Trump and Netanyahu — to publicly admit that they never should have started this stupid military campaign … and resign.
Trump is doing the smart thing. Starving them out while pretending to negotiate.
You are correct about the state of how things “were” before February 2026. Unfortunately, we are having to address how things are NOW in June 2026. Resignations would only embolden the lunatics in Iran and make things exponentially worse.
Let it permanently be Closed.
Gas prices here at 4.30 should be 1.99. Not because this Strait Propaganda, but because of the 30+ Trillion Big Un-Beautiful Congress-President Spending Bill. ✖️☢️
Hey, while we’re at it, let’s have another Influencers Ballroom be built💵
Controlling the Strait of Hormuz requires that the Iranians be prevented from deploying swarms of relatively inexpensive drones when they choose. That ability has prevented the US Navy from achieving full control of the Strait and guarantee free passage to shipping through the Gulf. Defending with $1million dollar missiles, Apache helicopters, and A-10s is not long term sustainable and effective.
The continued ability of the Iranians to store and launch these drones leads to some troubling speculations. The effectiveness and precise targeting by Israeli and American aircraft no doubt had to do with very good intelligence most often provided by Israel’s Mossad ground network in Iran. It has long been a thorn in the mullah regime’s side. Yet these drones are not stored or coming from middle earth. So far the storage and launch sites have not been identified and bombed. Have to wonder if in the latest bombings, those brave Mossad agents overextended themselves and the Iranians managed to roll up some of their networks.
As I said on another thread, this is a trap.
Hormuz (and Kharg Island) are ideal from a defender point of view.
I’m sure Team Trump is looking for the best way to break the resolve of the IRGC and accoplish our goals, but this seems to be the best option to me. However I have no idea what it would take and whether it is even do-able with a reasonable level of risk. It seems clear that controlling Homuz would remove the main leverage IRGC has at present, which means they will do everything possible to prevent that from happening.
He is not staving anyone out except maybe the American People...
Resignations would be the best lesson any political figure could learn from a situation like this. I’ve dealt with this type of scenario in the corporate world, and the resignation of the responsible person was considered non-negotiable.
“Hormuz (and Kharg Island) are ideal from a defender point of view.”
Just isolate them, no one goes in, no one goes out except those who voluntarily leave forever, no supplies go in.
Let them live like those Japanese soldiers who remained dug in for decades if they want to.
If Iran could hold territory, it would have taken the entire region a long time ago. We should take whatever we need to secure the gulf permanently.
👍💯 Any idiot can see that.
However the TDS War Bots need dead America solider on the evening News so they can blame it on Trump.
Trump and Hegseth holds US Service Men's lives sacred.
TDS WAR Bots only look at them as numbers to hurt Trump and American families.
See them for what they are.
Tur⁰n Qeshem into a new Hong Kong called: “Trump Kong.”
Agreed, after about a little turmoil things would probably start to actually stabilize
Arm the 90M citizens. Tell them to get rid of all IRGC. End of problem.
Plus, an armed populace will remain free after that.
“This is a “multinational problem” that didn’t exist before February 2026......”
