A new drug for pancreatic cancer is showing promise in early testing. Daraxonrasib is a daily pill designed to block cancer signals linked to the RAS gene. It has now finished an early-stage clinical trial — the first time it was tested in people — to evaluate both its safety and effectiveness. The clinical trial, led by the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and published in The New England Journal of Medicine, tested the drug in 168 patients with advanced pancreatic cancer whose tumors had mutations in the RAS gene. All study participants had previously received at least one chemotherapy treatment.

I had a pancreatitis attack a few years ago and someone said Vit D so I tried it and no more pancreatitis
This is wonderful news.
Combined with the advances in early diagnosis, perhaps we will see significant increases in the 5 year survival rate.
Sorry to hear about the chronic pancreewatitus. I had a bout of acute pancreatitis many years ago from obstructive gall stones. So far , no chronic recurrence. I am aware of the risks towards cancer if it is persistent.
Anything would be good. This is such a terrible, terrible cancer, the pancreatic cancer.

Researchers stunned again! How do they get through a day? According to the Web half the population sits in a state of stunned silence all day. How does anything get done?
You just got lucky.
Vitamin D is most beneficial vitamin. I take 5000 IU pill every day. Do not take any other vits. I figure my diet rich in fruits & veggies gives me all I need.
Yes, fastest killer cancer. My neighbor in early 50’s died 3 months after diagnosis. Shockng!
I was in healthcare, and when I saw someone with Pancreatic Cancer, it was evil to see. It progressed rapidly, ate their body, and nearly in front of your eyes, from visit to visit, they became even more emaciated.
Sigh. If I get cancer, that is one I don’t want.
This is the drug that Ben Sasse is taking. So far, he has outlived the original prognosis.
Really. Good news

Its not fastest. By the time its diagnosed its usually late stage 3 or 4, thats why it “appears” that way, its already been around a long time and its spread by then, terminally.
My dad died of it 25 years ago. A friend was recently diagnosed with it, stage 3 or 4. It was missed in an initial MRI a while ago and was allowed to continue until it was discovered. He’s undergoing chemo right now
My 70 year-old sister was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer 15 years ago and is still alive. She was lucky because they found it at stage one while looking at something else.
15 years after diagnosis.. that’s rare. What kind of treatment did she have?
