The flavanols (a type of polyphenol) in this type of cacao are shown in studies to improve heart health, lower blood pressure, boost blood flow throughout the body, improve blood sugar, and even improve your gut health by diversifying your microbiome. (Earth Echo Foods )

There’s an indigenous group of people called the Kuna in Panama that are a fascinating story in longevity as well as stellar cardiovascular health, and lack of metabolic diseases like diabetes, etc.
The Kuna people drink an average of 5 cups of a type of cocoa every day, and they have 9x lower rates of cardiovascular problems than the rest of the world.
High blood pressure is also almost non-existent in these people, yet they actually consume a good amount of salt.
And cancer rates are an astonishing 15x lower than the rest of the world. And they don’t eat many leafy green vegetables either, like most Americans try to stuff down.
They also consume a fair amount of sugar, yet their arteries are clean as a whistle, and blood sugar and blood pressure are normal and healthy.
But researchers found that it’s NOT their genetics, because members who moved to cities and started eating modern processed foods suffered all the same health problems as most of the world (diabetes, obesity, heart disease, etc).

These are the native Kuna people of Panama.
They live here, on San Blas Island in the Caribbean:
Think i remember it being bad for people who develop kidney stones. But for others should be good. Coffee too
Aren’t most of them under five feet tall? There may be other factors in play, but I am willing to try cocoa to lower my blood pressure. Worst case I still need the pill, but can wash it down with yummy cocoa. Win!
I am a serious chocoholic. I can’t get enough.
MORE GREAT NEWS ABOUT CHOCOLATE!................
The one on the left is on Tinder all the time
😣.....................And you know this because?...............
Doesn't make it right. Still, nice beach.
I go through these things like they're crack:
Chocolate can cause excess iron. The aztecs consumed chocolate, and also did bloodletting, which removes iron.
There is no similarity even between their LIFESTYLE and ours. And the difference between their eating habits and ours probably have more to do with “no junk food” than “cocoa”.
Further, the article is still rooted in the 1990s-era diet advice of “Salt bad” and “Green leafy vegetables good”. Massive amounts of SODIUM divorced from other minerals can be bad, but eating salt because you like it is very different. Green leafy vegetables are not bad per se, but if they replace eggs and meat? Not smart.
Cutting out one’s heart will do that................
I am a serious chocoholic. I can’t get enough.

I think in some cases, that might be a bad sign.
Chocolate is high in copper. Excess retinol causes low copper, and low copper can make people want to eat chocolate.
Foods have enough retinol and we don’t need to take supplements, but retinol is added to many foods and multivitamins.
Navy Kye 5 times a day ,LOL
This is basically an ad for something called ‘Cacao Bliss’. It’s pretty expensive on Amazon...
Do you get any walking in every day? My BP is great, hubby’s too, and we get a walk in every day. Some days all we can do is a 30 minute walk, but most of the time it’s 45-50 minutes. Doctor has said those walks are helping us in many ways.
I don’t drink 5 cups a day, but I do drink cocoa. And at post Covid prices and availability, not sure I could ever approach 5 cups a day. I wonder what the size of their cup is? I might have missed it.
Thank you. The picture that accompanied the article looked like a soup bowl. I drink 1- 1 1/2 cups at a time. I make it myself, not prepackaged.
My son pointed this out to me after I sent him the article. And my thought was I’m guessing they don’t have a stocked pantry, either.
I have been there. Nice people. The article does not mention they are very fit. Almost no fat people there. The eat a lot of fish, when they can catch them.
They are very pro-American, and very hard working people.
