Don’t break up because of that Mam!
New York leaders are desperately trying to stop billionaire bigwigs from hightailing it out of the Big Apple with their cash, businesses and thousands of jobs — as fears mount that Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s policies will accelerate the Empire State’s nation-leading loss of wealth.
The splashy one-two punch of Citadel CEO Ken Griffin and Apollo Global Management honcho Marc Rowan pledging to expand outside New York City has been coupled with a silent wave of businesses “quiet quitting” the city over its hostile environment, insiders told The Post.
The burgeoning biz bolt has prompted Andrew Murstein, founder of Medallion Financial Corp., to launch a campaign dubbed Operation Boomerang to woo his peeved peers back into the New York groove.
“This is a personal contribution of $1 million,” he said. “I’m a big believer in New York City and tradition.
“That’s just my money. It’s going to be a small drop in the bucket. I’m going to leverage that to be more money,” he added, estimating he’ll raise roughly $20 million to $30 million.
Mamdani’s outspoken “Tax the rich” stance long inspired concerns that fat cats would rather get out of Dodge than live under a socialist mayor.
But those concerns erupted into panic when Mamdani used Griffin’s swanky $238 million Midtown penthouse as a backdrop in one of his trademark slick social media videos — a stunt that the hedge fund titan called “creepy.”

What’s the mayor going to do? Arrest and jail them all until morale improves?
How much to those who come and go pay for the priviledge of coming?
Shades of the Berlin Wall.
New York needs a Mamdani's Wall
These left wing billionaires will migrate to red states and support whacko activists once there.
Or, they support the new and to them different existence that makes them even richer.
The tradition being "collecting a percentage on the investments of my clients".
As they depart, his percentage disappears.
Yeah... they're just "peeved". They're not shrewd financiers basing decisions on actual numbers.
And the "New York groove" has long been a skid mark in a midtown Manhattan homeless man's underwear.
“I’m still trying to figure out how we elected a Muslim President after 9-11.”
Deception. Obama has yet to openly admit that he is Muslim. And he would have us believe that he is a US citizen.
Mamdani is openly Muslim and was elected Mayor of New York City. I find that incomprehensible.
Who is John Galt?
Unless you have a new job or you are ready to retire, it is pretty tough to relocate. It is a bit easier if you are young and don't have a family to support. I have some young relatives who were able to escape Chicago and set up new lives elsewhere with working from home. They found new jobs when after bosses wanted them to return to the office..
How many people who work in NYC actually live in NYC?
As Obama said: “Elections have consequences”
Is anyone really surprised that people respond to economic incentives/disincentives?
The reasons for New York City to exist vanished long ago.
Deep water port for sailing ships from Europe.
Same, but for Revolutionary War, war of 1812, used by both sides.
Louisiana Purchase open land started the mass migration.
Erie Canal brought good from the middle of the country.
More Immigrants to Go West.
WWI and WW Eleven needed the East Coast ports.
Huge Manufacturing in NYC with all those goods flowing in and export flowing out. NYC Neighborhoods got their names like “Meat Packing District”, “Garment District”.
Wall Street and Banking came from the above, not the other way around. All the Cultural stuff flowed from the Big Money.
That’s all gone now.
Wall Street back offices have been in New Jersey for decades. Now they are finally leaving.
UN Crap & NATO Horshiite have outlived their usefulness and are so phookin done.
And NYS Government has lead the way with all of the destruction.
There is no reason for NYC to be anything but the shiitehole it has become.
Give it back to the Indians, they can even keep the $24.
Out of state workers still have to file with NY unless they have a cross state agreement. They do get a break on NYC takes.
My point is, they don’t get to vote for mayor.
Same problem in Chicago...
“Why do I think Mamdani will not last through his term?”
Oh, he’ll last. Liberals are the last ones to call it a loss. Even if it is. But, “As ye sow, so shall ye reap” is a biblical proverb (Galatians 6:7) and is very telling here.

>>And they can’t drive 55 to get out of town
Well, it used to take 3 hours, now it takes all day.
