Don’t break up because of that Mam!
New York leaders are desperately trying to stop billionaire bigwigs from hightailing it out of the Big Apple with their cash, businesses and thousands of jobs — as fears mount that Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s policies will accelerate the Empire State’s nation-leading loss of wealth.
The splashy one-two punch of Citadel CEO Ken Griffin and Apollo Global Management honcho Marc Rowan pledging to expand outside New York City has been coupled with a silent wave of businesses “quiet quitting” the city over its hostile environment, insiders told The Post.
The burgeoning biz bolt has prompted Andrew Murstein, founder of Medallion Financial Corp., to launch a campaign dubbed Operation Boomerang to woo his peeved peers back into the New York groove.
“This is a personal contribution of $1 million,” he said. “I’m a big believer in New York City and tradition.
“That’s just my money. It’s going to be a small drop in the bucket. I’m going to leverage that to be more money,” he added, estimating he’ll raise roughly $20 million to $30 million.
Mamdani’s outspoken “Tax the rich” stance long inspired concerns that fat cats would rather get out of Dodge than live under a socialist mayor.
But those concerns erupted into panic when Mamdani used Griffin’s swanky $238 million Midtown penthouse as a backdrop in one of his trademark slick social media videos — a stunt that the hedge fund titan called “creepy.”

Why do I think Mamdani will not last through his term?
And they can’t drive 55 to get out of town.
He will. His opponents leave, the people who support him stay.
Billionaires - “Wait, the communists are supposed to squeeze the Kulaks, not us”.
Jews in 1933: “Hitler is only talking about the money lenders, not us!”
No, the rich leftwingers will leave, the working folks that can't afford to leave will be the ones left holding the bag.
“I’m a big believer in New York City and tradition.”
Nothing says tradition like a Muslim Marxist Mayor. Do words even mean anything to liberals? You’ve got to wonder.
And they’ll still support Mamdani.
You have to look at the big picture. These socialist big mayors don’t care about their cities, it’s a means to an end. Gain a foothold in all the big cities, then work together, and have the leverage to impose their will on the state, and subsequently Federal government to get Socialism nationwide.
I mean, one cannot have Socialism in one city, and these mayors know it. But taking over cities one by one, is the best way to achieve the Revolution.
I’m still trying to figure out how we elected a Muslim President after 9-11. And Obama’s library....Look good...it’s a Muslim design.
You want a divorce? Ok fine, I’m leaving.
I would like to thank NY voters for providing those of us who are fortunate to not live anywhere near their insanity for the constant laughs. I look forward to much more of the following: lunacy, idiocy and comic failure. Thanks, pals.
I guess the reason for thinking that way is that there no indication to think he should last through his term. He seems to be like a piece of spoiled food....who wants that?
Yes, much like the Kaaba in Mecca (and elsewhere in Arab lands).
The Curley Effect, coined by economists Edward Glaeser and Andrei Shleifer, is a political strategy where leaders use divisive rhetoric and wasteful redistribution to drive opposing voters out of a city or state, strengthening their own electoral base to maintain power despite causing long-term economic stagnation.
Don’t laugh too much, the socialists are winning, they don’t care about their cities.
Bingo. That’s the socialists plans, and it will work in the end.
When all the City-States are run by socialists, they can pretty much have the leverage to either bring about a Revolution, or a Civil War.
“woo his peeved peers back”
“Peeved peers” ... love it!

Duwaji met Zohran Mamdani – the son of academic Mahmood Mamdani and filmmaker Mira Nair – on the dating app Hinge in 2021, when he was a member of the New York State Assembly.[5][7][10][13] They were engaged in October 2024,[7] held a private nikah ceremony two months later in Dubai,[10][14] and married in February 2025 in a civil ceremony at New York City Hall;[5][12] they also had a ceremony in Uganda – Mamdani's birth country – in July 2025.[5]
Following Mamdani's victory in the 2025 mayoral election, and his subsequent inauguration as mayor, Duwaji became the first lady of New York City in January 2026,[5] making her the first Gen Z-er and the first Muslim to assume the role.[15] She helped curate visuals for his campaign.[2][16]
The couple resided in Mamdani's legislative district of Astoria, Queens, near Steinway Street,[4][5] until they moved into Gracie Mansion on January 12, 2026, after taking office.[17]
He will be re-elected easily.
