The U.S. blockade of Iranian ports will continue, and the ceasefire with Iran will be extended, President Donald Trump said Tuesday, citing "serious fractures” within the Iranian regime.
“Based on the fact that the government of Iran is seriously fractured, not unexpectedly so, and, upon the request of Field Marshal Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan, we have been asked to hold our attack on the country of Iran until such time as their leaders and representatives can come up with a unified proposal,” Trump said in a post shared on Truth Social.
“I have therefore directed our military to continue the blockade and, in all other respects, remain ready and able, and will therefore extend the ceasefire until such time as their proposal is submitted and discussions are concluded, one way or the other,” he added.

He’s listening to the wrong people again, just finish the job already.
The various “leaders” in Iran don’t seem to all be on the same page.
I have the feeling that if we renew bombing, they might get on the same page.
But if Trump manages a settlement with this cease-fire extension, and if Iran breaks the cease-fire, then we really need to abandon negotiations and just bomb the eff out of them for awhile.
And what about those executions they’ve announced?
Moved on from 4D chess to intergalactic chess. We can’t even see it let alone understand it. All part of the “Art of the Deal”. You should read the book to maybe understand his negotiating prowess.
I guess this flipping back and forth like a fish out of water is all part of the strategy to keep the Iranians off balance and get them to make a proposal he wants. Wait, I thought he had already made the only proposal he will accept. Hmm. Mongo very confused.
He seems to be looking pretty silly now to me, or should I say sillier?
He is playing 12-dimensional chess while the rest of the world is playing checkers. We are all just too stupid to see it. O cruel, needless misunderstanding!
At that point, the chaos and disorder among the Iranian leadership actually started working very much in their favor.
This military campaign was a disastrous decision, but it looks like Trump isn’t as foolish as he seems with his silly rants on social media.
The blockade is working, albeit very slowly. The problem is that people are impatient.
Waiting on that shipment from China or Russia or the NORKs.
No, no. This additional delay is all part of his strategy. We get to know what that is someday.

Trump pleaded with them this morning on TruthSocial not to execute them. Maybe, just maybe, behind the scenes they threatened to execute the hostages if Trump went ahead with the bombings.
Realistically, with whom is he supposed to negotiate? Obviously, the IRCG is running the show, but the negotiators are an entirely different group.
At this point, Trump is in the position of a real estate developer who needs a zoning board approval for a new project in New York City, but the zoning board members have all quit and only people left to negotiate with in NYC are the animal control officers. And they’re in Miami.
Trump-haters and FReepers who want to see all Iranians turned into refugees should probably spew their effluent on a democrat-friendly board. They would welcome it. I don’t.
And were pilloried for their negativity. The track record is stacking up deeper by the day and it isn’t good.
Nobody has said a word about what happens when the 60 day with no Congressional approval clock runs out. Can the blockade continue? Starving them out is about as effective as bombing them back into the stone age but how long will the chicoms tolerate this imposition?
He has to Remember Arafat being offered what he asked for only to reject the offer?
He can't believe these are good faith actors.

The Democrats are salivating over this. You can bet they will try to stick it up his exit orifice and declare it a battle victory for their side and their support for Iran. Not that it will matter either way.

The optics are unusual
The best available option given the circumstances and as long as the blockade is enforced.
Iran may want Trump to do something RIGHT NOW.
We will act when the time is right. A time of OUR choosing.
I assume Trump has facts in evidence that we are not privy to, and I therefore reserve judgement on this. But Iran descending into internecine conflict is s definite possibility.
