When I was in college, Ramen noodles and hot dogs were a delicacy.
The salt content alone would kill you (it’s 1100mg, or 48% of your daily requirement). But I’d microwave my noodles and hot dog in water for 5 mins, stir in the packet of heart attack and spices, and chow down.
Now, I can’t remember when I last had ramen noodles. Why? Because I have “graduated” from the bottom layer of the Maslow hierarchy.
Upcycled food is simply a psyop, pushed by environmentalists and Klaus Schwab-types to make you eat refuse, and be happy.
I bet somewhere, some environmentalist is saying we should upcycle cadavers to save the planet.
I think I will stick with the stuff DH and the cubs bring home from their fishing trips.
They already do a similar thing with pigs . The saying is ‘from the rooter to the tooter’.
Marketing gimmick. Companies do this will fish already. Minced fish is already used in fish sticks or canned fish. What’s left is boiled for stock, ground in to dust for fertilizer and animal food.
Don’t be an idiot, this is how ground beef is made same for ground chicken and ground pork. Ask Gemini about mechanically separated chicken, beef and pork , get off your high horse.
I think all parts of the salmon are used one way or another. Even if thrown in a landfill, it will be decomposed by bacteria and fungus.
Probably if saved, could be ground up very finely so no choking can occur, then cooked and make fish cake for cats.... won’t go to waste. Could be used for soup stock if clean.
