Former Clinton aide and Democratic strategist Paul Begala said the Democratic Party has drifted toward becoming a "faculty lounge," criticizing what he described as growing elitism within its ranks.
During an appearance on "Real Time with Bill Maher" Friday, Begala discussed how Democrats’ election strategy has evolved, and Maher referenced California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s recent comment that the party needs to be more "culturally normal" to win.
In a February interview with CNN, Newsom said Democrats should be "less prone to spending disproportionate amount of time on pronouns, identity politics."
"We used to be the party of the factory floor, and now we're the party of the faculty lounge," Begala said.
"This intellectual elitism on my side is so off-putting, and the sanctimony, the judgmentalism."
The Democratic strategist mocked what he described as sanitized language used by many in the party, highlighting how some refer to prison inmates as "justice involved."
"I saw Andy Beshear recently. He told me that someone talked to him about … ‘justice-involved populations,’" Begala told Maher.
"I grew up in a prison town. … We call them crooks. Prisoners, convicts, inmates," he added.

Both of those two are particularly nasty pieces of work, and Carville has now rounded the bend and is right there with ‘em....he’s just way more unhinged.

The Democrat Party is all hat and no cattle, and incredibly corrupt.

Look how many 80-20 issues the Democrats are on the wrong side of:
- open borders
- voter ID
- men in women's spaces
- mutilating children
- "Latinx" which Hispanics DESPISE
- soft on crime
- defund the police
- oppose deporting illegal alien murderers, rapists and pedos
But they can't bring themselves not only to get on the right side of these issues, they can't even bring themselves to shut up about them. The crazy cultural marxists took over the Democrats party at least 20 years ago.

justice could be served and add years to all of their prison sentences.
Begala is just another Clinton minion who no longer has any value to the Democrat base.
The OLD ruling class wants their power back so don’t be surprised to see an alliance form between Bush-Rove and Clinton to push for Beshear.

The only thing that has “evolved” is their egos if they consider themselves intellectuals....they have devolved into venal, corrupt full-time liars and purveyors of perversions and violence.

Very well put and true. Of course the Democrats have always had a radical core of intellectual types, but somehow the radicals won the internal battle for the soul of the party.
That comment is going to have an effect. Terrific -- and a comment We the People can understand. Those who do, do. Those who can't teach... Well, not all the time, but it's mostly true.
Begala showed shades of H. L. Mencken who once said, "One horse-laugh is worth ten thousand syllogisms."
Perhaps it's better that Bill Maher is an arms-length from President Trump. Somebody has got to break the idiocy of the DemoRat party.
TDS has led the Democrat Party ship to run onto the rocks, be holed and may survive as a leaky hulk or it may sink.
There is no precedent in our history for it in these mid terms. But the US electorate is unlikely to elect a majority of Democrats to the House or the Senate based on hatred.They offer nothing else.
TDS has pretty much destroyed the Democrat Party.
