Gas in Los Angeles is $5.40 a gallon
March 12, 2026

Posted on 03/12/2026 7:46:25 AM PDT by Angelino97

This morning I went to buy gas in Los Angeles. The price at the pump per gallon was as follows:

Unleaded ... $5.3999

Plus ... $5.4999

Premium ... $5.5999

Yet some people here are complaining about gas in their states being $3.50 or $3.60.

So, according to news headlines stating it - where is gas at $8.00/gallon in LA? Near the airport?

You're obsessed. A person criticizes Israel a year ago, and you're still seething and stalking that person on every thread, whatever the topic.

“Of course. We had the “I did this” Biden stickers all over the place on gas pumps. So far, I haven’t seen any for trump. Hopefully, we won’t.”

Won’t need them. Everybody who’s awake will know exactly who caused their gas price to double or triple. Trump will get all the “credit.”

Common sight around So Cal:

Cheapest gas I saw yesterday was $5.20/gallon, which is apparently the state average - but that was two days ago, it's most likely gone up by then.

Trump can dump all the oil he wants from the strategic reserves into the country - and the price of gas will NOT go down in California. The tyrants in Sacramento love having the highest gas tax in the nation.

They need it to fun their lefty schemes - while the freeways, highways and roads continue to deteriorate.

I don't care. I work from home. LOL!

Yes, but the trucks that deliver your food to the grocery store must still buy gas. And pass on the costs to you.

Here in CA we have to buy a unique (so they can’t bring it in from neighboring states) “Summer blend” that is more expensive to produce and they have to shut the refineries down to switch over to making it. They are also shutting down 2 refineries so we’re going to be down to six (I think) with no excess capacity. Also a large per centage of the gas in Southern California is brought in on tankers from the Bahamas or some such place courtesy of the Jones Act. They produce it in TX but have no US flagged tankers so they ship it to the West Indies, comingle it in storage tanks and load it on foreign flagged tankers. All in all I’m almost surprised that gas doesn’t cost more here than it does.

Newsom got his wish...closed down most of the refineries to “save the planet”.

Californians are paying so much more due to their state government's Leftist tax and spend policies.

They need to stop voting for democrats.

Until that happens they can only blame themselves.

You understand wrong.

A large percentage of the price is because CA requires special CA only blends to be sold, and since they managed to run 2 refineries out of town(which together was about 22% of daily fuel refined for the state), CA imports these blends from OPEC countries and some from the east coast if I am not mistaken.

That doesn’t change the fact that between State and fed taxes, it’s about 74 cents if I recall in taxes.

Last time in like 2018, Trump ordered the EPA to revoke CA’s ability to mandate special blends, and gas was like 3.19 for a long time here. Biden reinstated it and I guess Trump’s decided to let CA embrace the newsome suck. Which politically makes sense

With situations like this I get more luvin' from the missus for making most of our home energy and transportation energy self-reliant. (Home solar and doing most of our driving in the EV.)

But energy prices still impact us indirectly due to higher transportation costs jacking up grocery prices and the price of almost everything else.

Well, that’s awful but I think a lot of price is due to horrible California politics.

I am, however, jealous that the differential to premium is only 20 cents. Here in Central Kentucky the differential is 90 cents per gallon. However, regular is only $3.19.
