Ragin' Cajun on X: "I am not a jingoist by any stretch of the word. Moreover, my daughter is on the USS Lincoln as we speak. I have skin in this game. I have read (and heard) a lot of BS about whether or not we should be in Iran. Let me be clear...I've been a SME on Iran for 25÷ years. I speak Persian Farsi, Dari, Balochi, and Tajik. I've been to Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, and yes... Iran. There are few who know Iran as "intimately" as I do.
The reasons for this war are nuanced and complicated, but one thing is clear as day... the Iranian people (by and large) are good people and they just want to have the same liberty and freedom we have. Their women and girls want to be able to go out into public without having to fear if they'll be arrested and beaten (or even killed) by the "Virtue Police".
If you cannot see that, and you cannot support the liberation of a people that have been brutally oppressed for 47+ years... then you have no humanity and you and I are not the same.

"...I have waited 47 years to wonder if today would not be another day I would see American Democrats (including many self-proclaimed pious and craven "conservatives") siding with those Islamic scumbags against their own Country..."
We have many on this very forum that point relates directly to. It may be many more years before the waiting ends on that one.
Hey! You’re back. This should be fun.
What is sad is that scumbag trolls such as yourself are allowed to stay on FR. If you cannot see that we (USA and Israel) are the good guys, then you should be treated as an enemy, which is exactly what you are.
“”We’ve heard this lame sh!t before. If it’s not worth invading a country and annexing it as a new U.S. territory subject to U.S. law, then leave it alone.””
***
Ironic projection on your part... especially since your comment illustrates the complete opposite of American spirit and patriotism... as well as the very definition of “lame sh!t and delusional nonsense”. We didn’t “annex” Japan after kicking their @ss in WWII, but if left up to cretins like you, we would have done just that, apparently. That’s about as asinine a political stance as I’ve ever heard or read, especially on a Conservative forum. And please don’t use that equally asinine excuse that Iran didn’t attack us like Japan did. Insane and radical Iranian mullahs have been sponsoring terrorism attacks against America for many decades.
Also, America has not just been a nation of promoting self-interest, although taking out the radical mullahs in Iran does exactly that by removing the decades-long threat that Iran’s sponsoring of terrorism against America represents.
America has promoted freedom for the people of other nations, as well. Some examples...
“America has always stood up for oppressed people around the globe.
The United States has a long history of standing up for oppressed people around the globe. This commitment has been demonstrated through various actions and policies, including:
Supporting human rights defenders: The U.S. has invested over $1.06 billion in foreign assistance to support human rights globally, providing tools and resources to activists and journalists.
1
Promoting democracy and accountability: The U.S. has worked to ensure democratic principles are embraced and corruption is rejected, supporting civil society and marginalized groups.
1
Combating transnational repression: The U.S. has engaged with multilateral partners to raise awareness and counter the threat of authoritarian regimes silencing critics and controlling activism abroad.
1
Historical actions: The U.S. has imposed sanctions on South Africa to end apartheid, levied economic sanctions against Poland, intervened in Bosnia and Herzegovina, led a coalition in Afghanistan, and supported Ukraine in its war against Russia.
1
Global leadership: The U.S. has been a global leader in promoting and defending human rights, with a focus on truth-telling, setting an example through domestic practices, and acting consistently toward the past, present, and future.
1
These actions reflect the U.S. commitment to standing up for oppressed people and promoting freedom and human rights worldwide.”

Well, he was with Clinton all those years.
One was forced to learn all things SME
“”Sure. Just ignore Iran until they kill us all, including Trump. Is that you Rand?””
***
No, it’s not Rand. It’s one of the left’s propagandist minions. And they can’t help showing their true colors in times like these. Letting anti-American evil fester and grow is how they roll.
“We” freed Iraq from Saddam. However we had to pay a price.
- Lesley Stahl asked Madeleine Albright, “We have heard that half a million children have died. I mean, that’s more children than died in Hiroshima. And, you know, is the price worth it?” Secretary of State Madeleine Albright responded, “I think this is a very hard choice, but the price — we think the price is worth it.” I hope Iran capitulates but I’m not very hopeful.
I'm with you! I hope and pray the Iranian people will rise up and throw out the Ayatollahs and form a decent government. Wow! How wonderful that would be!
Mad respect for you, sir.
A substantial number of our own states have laws that violate the rights recognized by the second amendment. Let's work on that first.
“”I thank President Donald J. Trump for this opportunity to put to rest these things I have waited 47 years for.””
***
As do I.... thank Trump for making things right after almost a generation of feckless, so-called “leadership” by those that allowed Iran’s evil to thrive and grow. And as someone pointed out earlier today on another thread ... Iran is just one chess piece in the world game of thwarting our biggest enemy and threat... ie the communists in China.
Thanks for this post, btw.
“If you look at the global picture, the Iran confrontation is not about Iran. Venezuela was not about Venezuela. Cuba is not about Cuba. Each of these is about China. China was positioning itself to be a serious worldwide competitor against America. China was just beginning the sale of hypersonic missiles to Iran. It was positioning radars and satellite communications in Venezuela. A few drones launched from Venezuela would easily reach the Gulf Coast and much of lower America where we manufacture our oil.”

NOTE: Iranian hostiles have had no trouble entering the U.S. over the last 50 years. That's what our open borders policy has brought us.
Thank you. You can tell, that came from my heart.
I remember what it was like, those 444 days. I was fresh out of the military, and the shame and anger I felt that we didn’t fight back is still raw today.
Oddly, one of the few things I EVER gave Carter credit for was the failed Operation Eagle Claw attempt. At least he tried, and that failure was the birth of the integrated operations capability we possess today.
Without that we wouldn’t be here.
Yeah, I still feel the anger. I felt the anger afresh about a month ago when my wife and I watched the movie “Miracle on Ice” and I heard Carter giving his ‘Malaise” speech. Burned me. Again.
And I remembered the news reports, showing the Iranians poking around in the wreckage at Desert One, and it filled me with anger at the memory. Again.
In 1979, many thought the Iranians just wanted Western secular democracy. They based that opinion on the views of the well-off, articulate, urban population, not on what the country as a whole thought or would put up with.
In 2003, many thought that Iraqis would rejoice at the replacement of Saddam Hussein and build a Western-style liberal democracy. They also told us that Saddam was building — and was maybe days or weeks away from having —weapons of mass destruction that he would use against us. Did any of that turn out to be true?
People have qualms and doubts about what’s going on in the Middle East because they have good reason to. They may be wrong, but STFU isn’t the right response. It leads one to think that the doubters may not be entirely wrong.
The George W. Bush Institute? Seriously? LMAO.
You can have that retarded baboon. I'll go with George Washington. His farewell address to Congress is literally riddled with references that are completely at odds with the nonsense you've linked in your post.
The great rule of conduct for us, in regard to foreign nations, is, in extending our commercial relations, to have with them as little political connexion as possible.
Our detached and distant situation invites and enables us to pursue a different course. If we remain one people, under an efficient government, the period is not far off, when we may defy material injury from external annoyance; when we may take such an attitude as will cause the neutrality, we may at any time resolve upon, to be scrupulously respected; when belligerent nations, under the impossibility of making acquisitions upon us, will not lightly hazard the giving us provocation; when we may choose peace or war, as our interest, guided by justice, shall counsel. Why forego the advantages of so peculiar a situation? Why quit our own to stand upon foreign ground?
It is our true policy to steer clear of permanent alliances with any portion of the foreign world; so far, I mean, as we are now at liberty to do it; for let me not be understood as capable of patronizing infidelity to existing engagements. I hold the maxim no less applicable to public than to private affairs, that honesty is always the best policy. I repeat it, therefore, let those engagements be observed in their genuine sense. But, in my opinion, it is unnecessary and would be unwise to extend them.
That makes no sense. You contradicted yourself with that post.
They have made us stand in lines, empty our pockets, take off our clothes in public in front of other people.
What makes you think they won’t kill Americans in our own country?
As if they haven’t already all around the world, including here in the United States.
If, for 47 years, I have a neighbor who screams at me, along with the rest of his deranged family, that they are going to kill me and my family, using a bullhorn to do it, tries to acquire firearms and ammunition to do it, I am going to take it seriously if I see them loading ammunition and cleaning their guns.
We should have been taking it seriously 47 years ago when in violation of international law, they invaded our embassy and took hostages. That we did not is a mark of shame and weakness on us.
It is not just the Iranians alone, it is their filthy Islamic-based ideology they have been pushing from their Teheran base of operations out to the entire world in an effort to create a new Caliphate.

#1 - There are no good guys. We are all born into sin and our only hope is through Christ to be more like Him.
#2 - I care about the welfare of all humans because we are all created in God’s image but I do not care about them equally. I care about the welfare of people in this order.
*My immediate family
*My extended family
*My friends
*My neighbors
*Fellow Christians
*White people
*The people in my state
*The people in my region
*The people in my country
*All of the other people in world who don’t fall into the groups above
The wars that Israel is getting us to fight for them don’t help any of the people that I care about in the first 9 categories. They only help the people in the last category while actually hurting the people in the first 9.
If you think my list makes me a “troll” or a “scumbag” or “racist” or “anti-semite”...I don’t care. Too bad.
If you want to treat me like an enemy, I see how people on your side treat your “enemies”. I take that as a threat of violence simply because I don’t support your geo-political aspirations.
You blood thirsty warmongers are the ones who shouldn’t be allowed on this forum.
The 1979 revolution in Iran was aimed at toppling the government that had been in power since the U.S. and U.K. toppled the elected Mossadegh government in 1953.
I have news for you, and you should be prepared for the political reality this will bring in the coming months and years: There are almost 200 million Americans who weren't even alive in 1979, and many of the 140+ million aren't even American born.
The Republican Party is doomed to fail if they go out and make their case for this stupid military campaign and end up sounding like some old fart who refuses to buy a Toyota because the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor in 1941.
