Jeannine Pirro, the U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia, on Monday threatened jail time for anyone who enters the capital with a gun.
In remarks on Fox News that could deepen a growing rift between gun owners and the Trump administration, Ms. Pirro declared that if anyone brings “a gun into the District, you mark my words, you’re going to jail. I don’t care if you have a license in another district and I don’t care if you’re a law-abiding gun owner somewhere else.”
Her remarks prompted swift pushback from the Republican Party’s pro-Second Amendment wing, which was thrown into a cycle of confusion and frustration over comments from President Trump and some in his administration after Alex Pretti, a licensed gun owner, was shot by federal immigration agents last month during a protest in Minneapolis.
The shooting has fueled debate among conservatives over the administration’s vacillating posture toward lawful gun ownership. After the shooting, Mr. Trump and some senior administration officials sought to blame Mr. Pretti for carrying a concealed firearm during the protest.
“I don’t like that he had a gun, I don’t like that he had two fully loaded magazines, that’s a lot of bad stuff,” Mr. Trump said last week in Iowa.
Ms. Pirro’s remarks caught the attention of several Republican lawmakers, including Representative Greg Steube of Florida, a U.S. Army veteran, who said on social media that he travels into Washington from his home district every week with a firearm. “I have a license in Florida and DC to carry. And I will continue to carry to protect myself and others,” Mr. Steube wrote. “Come and Take it!”

No worries here. I have no intention of ever entering the ****ing District.
Deepen a growing rift between gun owners and the Trump administration? What utter nonsense the NYT tries to pass off as journalism. It is like using Hussam Abu Safiya, the NYT Op Ed Contributor on the Hamas War. He was a “Hero Doctor of the Gaza Health Ministry”, who murdered Israelis and yet was a Hamas Commander. The NYT lost credibility about any reporting a long, long time ago in a galaxy far away.
Who will protect us from the DNC's Hamas wing?
Look. Pretti boi got what he wanted when he decided to take a handgun to a “peaceful” Demonrat Pep Rally. It’s his fault that he ended up getting his ass shot. You don’t need guns at a “peaceful liberal protest.”
I don’t say this lightly. She should seriously resign. You can’t have a an administration that’s supposed to be pro second amendment making those kinds of statements.
You are not qualified to judge you betters
Channeling her inner Wyatt Earp?
Yep,
I don’t think they realize just how many people they have alienated with this garbage over the last few weeks
Pirro's a straight shooter (pun intended), so I'm going out on a limb here to say I'm pretty sure she's not talking about you, Steube. She's referring to folks bringing in guns illegally.
Years ago I went to a talk by an NRA lawyer. He said that there are three cities where they’ll arrest you for a gun crime even if you’re obeying all the gun laws.
The three: New York City, Baltimore, and DC.
I guess Pirro is keeping up that tradition.
🙁
“Monday threatened jail time for anyone who enters the capital with a gun.” What about a firearm?
It’s the law. Don’t rag on a prosecutor for enforcing a bad law. Have the law changed.
It’s a Pretti neat tactic. Have Trump and Jeannine come out against guns in DC and Hackme and Schmuckie will lead the charge to change the law.
EC
She said she doesn’t care if you are legally allowed to carry a gun.
“””You can’t have a an administration that’s supposed to be pro second amendment making those kinds of statements.””
You also must follow the laws in place. If a state says you can’t carry a gun then you can’t carry a gun.
What about a pointed stick?
And yes, I understand that if we take their guns away when we're in power, they'll take mine away when they are in power. Duh. That's because there's a war going on and disarming your enemies is what people do in war.
It’s still better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.
In ANY city.
I think something is developing and they’re trying to head it off.
Exactly, who wants to go to DC.
