Green Bay Packers offensive lineman Rasheed Walker was arrested Friday morning at LaGuardia Airport in New York after authorities say he attempted to check a bag containing a handgun and ammunition. Walker, 25, was taken into custody at the airport's Terminal C after telling a Delta Air Lines employee that his luggage contained a locked box holding a firearm, according to a criminal complaint obtained by the New York Post.

Port Authority police were alerted and searched the bag, where they found a 9mm Glock pistol and 36 rounds of ammunition secured inside the locked case.

Walker was charged with two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and one count of criminal possession of a firearm. He later appeared in Queens County Criminal Court on the gun charge and was released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to return to court on March 19.

Walker's attorney, Arthur Aidala, said the incident stemmed from a misunderstanding and that the firearm was legally licensed in Wisconsin, adding that Walker was unaware he could not travel with it in New York.

"It was in a locked box and he disclosed it to the people at the airport," Aidala told the New York Post. "He told a person from Delta he was traveling with a firearm. He mistakenly thought because he had a licensed firearm and it was in a locked box that he was able to travel with it. We are confident the case will be dismissed."

“Port Authority police were alerted and searched the bag, where they found a 9mm Glock pistol and 36 rounds of ammunition secured inside the locked case.” Only 36 rounds? Dude you don’t have enough ammo.

The fact that certain states makes felons out of people from other states who in their own state are law abiding citizens is infuriating.

On the other hand, gun owners know they are responsible for following federal, state, and local laws. Stupid on Walkers part.

I’d like to see all gun control laws rescinded.

But, if we can’t have that, we ought to at least have national reciprocity. Like Driver’s Licenses, and Marriage Certificates.

Immutable truth. His error, he owns it and NY doesn't GAS. They'll make a poster boy out of him for "gun control".

A valid gun permit in Wisconsin should be made valid in all states. Trump has campaigned on this. NY and NJ are among the worst opponents of the second amendment. The guy had it in a lock box and volunteered that he had the weapon. This is a common occurrence in NY & NJ as many don’t know local laws.

Unless the gun was loaded, he did not commit a crime. It is perfectly legal to carry firearms and ammunition in a locked container in your luggage as long as you declare it to the airline, which he did. Only in blue states would these ass weasels arrest someone.

New York State law should be:

Placing the firearm in the state’s National Guard storage (new) system, to be returned to firearm owner promptly after the owner leaves the state.

BUT, thr liberals’, leftists’, arrogant academia/media’s purpose is to punish and charge the taxpayers $100,000’s more than the temporary storage fee paid by the owner.

Case will be dismissed. He’s too important. At 300+ pounds you would wonder why he needed a gun. It’s probably because he carries cash with him-a lot of it. Anyone who would rob him would know who he is.

He stands to be $100 million richer soon-not smart.

Then there should not have been a problem - you declare a firearm in checked bags and a tag is added to that effect. He should have told the check in agent there was a gun in the bag.
