Another Self-Destructive Decision by the Trump DOJ
National Review ^ | 01/13/2026 | Dan McLaughlin

I was wondering if we might see a push from the Stephen Miller faction in the Trump administration to take the Minneapolis ICE shooting one step further and criminally charge Renee Nicole Good’s wife for inciting the shooting. That would be the classic Miller move, and one that goes a step further than the typical Trump DOJ pattern of lawfare against personal and policy enemies of the president. There’s more than a fig leaf of justification for such charges, as the wife seems to have gotten Good involved in ICE Watch as well as yelling “Drive, baby, drive” just before Good made the fatal decision to hit the accelerator; but it would nonetheless be a terrible idea to charge her unless there is some very significant new evidence we haven’t seen yet. Most prosecutors would classify her as having suffered enough for bad judgment.

I DO NOT agree with the author's opinion of Stephen Miller...I think that he is a good guy...Doing a good job of advising President...

I do agree with the author that filing criminal charges against the dead woman's girlfriend is not a good idea...

Does she deserve to be charged with federal crimes? Yes...

But, should the US Attorney file charges against her? No...

In the first place, I do not believe that the Minnesota federal grand jury would indict her...She has to be indicted before she faces trial...

OK...Somehow the federal grand jury does indict the girlfriend...Then the question is would the jury find her guilty of anything in a criminal trial...The trial will be held in Minnesota...People living in Minnesota will be on the jury...Some people, who really hate President Trump, will get on the jury...Thoose jurors will be very sympathetic to the girlfriend...

The jury must find this girfriend guilty before she could be sent to federal prison...

Why bother charging the dead woman's girlfriend if she is very unlikely to be found guilty by the jury?

The dead woman’s girlfriend facilitated this mess.

She does need to be held accountable.

Feelings be damned.

She should be charged if she broke a law, and they can prove it.

The reason would be to get a subpoena through the grand jury process to look at her phone records if attacking the conspiracy is their angle. Don’t need an indictment or a trial to identify bigger fish.

“Six federal prosecutors in Minnesota resigned on Tuesday over the Justice Department’s push to investigate the widow of a woman killed by an ICE agent and the department’s reluctance to investigate the shooter, according to people with knowledge of their decision. Joseph H. Thompson, who was second in command at the U.S. attorney’s office and oversaw a sprawling fraud investigation that has roiled Minnesota’s political landscape, was among those who quit on Tuesday, according to three people with knowledge of the decision.” Harmeet Dhillon blew this up this afternoon, all had put in for retirement before the day of of the assault on the ICE agent. She demanded retraction from the media outlets pushing it. She can add NR to the list.

It is obvious that Renee Good and her spouse were trained agitators. Renee was the lead car of the line of cars in the protest. All day she had been taunting and pressing the patience of the ICE agents. Clearly she knew exactly what she was doing, what was her assignment.

WELFARE FRAUD, POLITICAL CORRUPTION were the narrative, the headlines nationwide. Renee’s assignment was to change the narrative, change the headline, which she succeeded in doing.

37 YEAR OLD MOM OF 3 SHOT BY ICE AGENT is now the headline.
Mission Accomplished. Activists won this battle in the war. ICE lost this battle.

As a side benefit Renee Good is now as famous as George Floyd.
Renee Good has demonstrated to the movement how valuable LESBIANS are to the movement.

National Review should’ve changed its name to National Neo-Con years ago.

Bill Kristol and George Will wallow in its pages.
