“What T. gondii does to mens’ brains is even scarier.”

That is a fact... I have seen it...

I have a cat, and I am to the right of Atilla the Hun.

But I also have dogs

And I am a man.

But other than that I think I have disproved this theory.

My Mother In law is kinda crazy.
Always has been.
Which is why both my wife and her younger sister both moved out of the house when they were 17-18 years old.
HOWEVER, she is a very judgmental conservative.

To the point hat she has literally alienated almost all friends she has had over the years. Including the neighbor ladies, women in the garden club and women in the book club.
Who she says are all indoctrinated(she is probably correct with the majority). She does not play well with others.
Her husband(my father in law)should probably be sainted. He has thought about leaving her several times. He has stuck with her though. She has had multiple CATS over the years. No dogs.

It’s disgusting, but the same thing is happening to gay men and their activity.

Toxoplasmosis infection with significant central nervous system involvement is thought to be relatively rare in the United States. If one is looking for an explanation of neuropsychiatric symptoms in the form of infectious agents, there are several dozen possible suspects, many of which, like the viruses that cause measles, chicken pox, and cold sores, are far more commonly found in the brain.

There seems to be a sanitation angle, at least in your OP, that everyone is trampling over in their rush to defend their pets.

I once house-sat for a Pastor who told me that his kitty might just hop up onto the dinner table to see what I was eating, and I could give it whatever I wanted. I just nodded my head and smiled - while thinking to myself that if that cat jumped onto the table while I was there, it was going to find itself on the other side of the room.

What BS, we have 20 or so cats at any one time. Take your cats to the vet, deworm, get their shots and spay or neuter...good to go.

Since only 50% of cats have the blasted thing, I wonder if there’s a way to have your cat tested before you buy it.

The only thing that comes to mind is the old witch test - if they float, they have it...

The original major study on toxoplasmosis indicated it wasn’t much of a problem. Maybe a little more risk taking behavior. The study’s conclusions were reworked by the author because no one was interested in a study that says everything’s all right.

Cats are only one source of toxoplasmosis, and they carry it for a short time. You can get it from unwashed vegetables, rare meat consumption, gardening in infected soil, too. 2.5 billion people worldwide (30%) of the population have had it. Women who have already gotten it are generally immune from the effects if they get pregnant later. Pregnancy is the main time to be concerned about catching it for the first time.

Toxoplasmosis alters the behavior of rodents to make them less fearful of predators so that the parasite can infect its terminal host (a cat).

There's anecdotal evidence that people infected with Toxoplasmosis are more likely to engage in reckless behavior, such as women becoming more more sexually promiscuous.

It’s not their cats. It’s how they were raised — uninvolved fathers, sexually permissive, divorce, feminist mothers, entitled attitudes, etc.

So are you saying that Cat Ladies become ‘Rat Ladies?

Per Wikipedia...Preliminary evidence has suggested that T. gondii infection may induce some of the same alterations in the human brain as those observed in rodents.

Because wherever a cat goes, that's their park.

My son has had 2 cats and both of them constantly go to the litter box then when done prowl around on table tops looking for treats.

it drives him crazy, their first one was so bad they got rid of it and now their 2nd one does it as well just not as much. But his daughters demanded a cat.

Note:

I noticed no one has made comment about the wiki link. Studies have shown gondii has a symbiotic relationship with cats. The protist gets a home and in return when mice get infected their behavior changes due to the parasite attacking the brain as Dutton suggests it does in humans.
Infected mice:
Lose ability to detect cat urine smell
Lose some fear of predators
Have less anxiety
Increases explorative behavior

all these new traits make mice vastly easier to catch, giving the infected cat more food and in return gondii gets an even better home.

‘Fing’ amazing, as mice are also mammals like us that could easily explain how we are affected as well. But as we are not intended hosts the effects are bizarre, this is typical of other parasites that in their evolutionary intended hosts do little harm but in a biologically similar but different host cause havoc. Example is trichinosis, worm does little harm in pigs, kills us.

I had cats my whole life and I am far from being a crazy leftist.

This person needs to leave the animals out of it.

Blame the education system, not critters.

Cats aren’t thr only source. Apparently they are the only known host in which T. Gondi can reproduce sexually, however.

There are a lot of kooks on YouTube. We’ve had cats for 25 years, and I’m as conservative as I’ve always been. We love our cats. We lost one we’ve had for 10 years, back in July. I still haven’t gotten over it.

--- "Don't laugh 🤣 the Professor is real and bases this claim on multiple scientific research studies, all recent."

Maybe not quite....

Starting with our conservative Freepers ladies whose comments give lie to the thesis.

This YouTube channel's video, when opened this AM upon recommendation from you, has had only "1,943 views" and was posted today -- Sep 30, 2025

Who is he? His website, which he promotes through the YouTube channel, states in part:

"I originally read Theology at Durham University, graduating in 2002. There I focused on Religious Studies under the Rev’d Prof. Douglas Davies, editing his book Anthropology and Theology. I then did a PhD in Religious Studies, focusing on Christian fundamentalism, at Aberdeen University under Rabbi Prof. Seth Kunin (and briefly, partially, under Prof. Steve Bruce), finishing in 2005.

I was made Docent of the Anthropology of Religion and Finnish Culture at Oulu University in Finland – I'm based in Oulu – in 2011."

Source: Edward Dutton, the Jolly Heretic

Reading through his bio, he's bounced from academic job to academic job, Finland, to Latvia, to Lithuania, to Sweden, to Saudi Arabia, to Poland, and....

"In 2023, I was made Honorary Professor in the Institute of Psychology at the Russian Academy of Sciences."

Interestingly, his website domain was first registered in 2021, using a German Registrar and has "admin contact" in Denmark. He says he participates in a German online "gegenuni.de" located in Chemnitz, Germany, which oddly is related to "The Rocket Science Group, LLC. 675 Ponce de Leon Ave NE Suite 5000 Atlanta, GA 30308 USA." Tracking back, it is associated with MailChimp, as their service for sending a "subscriber" stuff.

So where is this "professor's" YouTube channel hosted? According to YouTube, Finland since 2018. And he will happily accept your donations in BitCoin and through a variety of intermediaries.

He's a typical "content creator" complete with the use of templates, hyped titles and all. Such as, "Private government can SAVE Western Civilisation! Here's how…" and "If you haven't seen these films, you're a LIZARD."

His business is getting people to post his "research" videos. And buy his books: Dutton's books on Amazon UK And you are a lizard, if.....

Our lady, cat-loving Freepers mirror a dear friend of ours. She has four, is wildly conservative, and goes with us to the shooting range monthly. We don't have pets, for my bride's allergies.
