The complaints MAHA has about artificial food colorings in the U.S. food industry don't even compare to the Chinese, at least not to Peixin Kindergarten in northwest China, which substituted lead-based paint for food coloring.
Apparently, they tried regular food coloring but didn't think the colors were bright enough.
According to Sky News,
A total of 233 out of 251 children had unhealthy [lead] levels and 201 needed to be hospitalized, said local authorities.
Two food samples were seized and both had lead levels 2000 times higher than the legal safe limit.
The principal apparently wanted to attract more students to the school and thought that brightly colored food would do the trick.
However, food-safe food coloring just didn't have the pizazz he was looking for, so he had the chefs order some paint online to add to the food, never mind that it was clearly marked "not for consumption."
When kids started to get sick, he allegedly also handed out some well-placed bribes to keep the whole thing hush-hush, which has led to the arrest of 17 people involved in the cover-up, including school personnel, 10 government officials, and the head of the local hospital.
And if you need any more reasons to distrust products coming out of China, consider that lead-based paint has been banned in the U.S. since 1978.
While lead poisoning is dangerous at any age, causing memory loss and kidney disease, it's particularly harmful in children as it can cause permanent mental impairment.
These poor kids will likely never fully recover from what these evil people did to them.

I hope he is punished.
These people have nuclear weapons......................
And I thought the “Spanish Rice” in our 7th grade cafeteria was bad!
And that has what to do with a dumbazz school superintendent poisoning children?
Just like years ago when some CCP-owned pet food company tried to cut costs by using some plastic crappola feedstock instead of the more expensive actual protein product . They got away with it for a while since downstream tests measure the plastic input crappola as regular protein.
Until a bunch of American dogs dropped dead of malnutrition and blocked bowels.
This is the kind of quality control you get on ANYTHING from a country run by commies. Soviet MIGs were the same way, covered in rust. GarbageInGarbageOut.
Gonna be fun to watch when NYC’s commie trash mayor decides the only way that any gov’mt owned grocery store in the world (all previous attempts fail) can be sustainable by ordered feedstock from the CCP.
If the level of the intelligence of the educators, granted this was an elementary school, is so bad that they will poison children with lead based paints, what must it be at the higher levels of government where many have not even been to secondary schools but were party apparatchiks who rose in the ranks due to their connections and skill at manipulating the communist system?...........................
Their inability to grasp risks or their apathy toward them is a massive liability in even simple decisions.
What a disaster. It reads like a domino effect of calamity, with each step becoming more dangerous and widespread than the step before it!
Stay in your lane, Mr. Principal!
I suspect he’ll be doing some time in detention, the lock up kind.
It’s interesting that the lead paint may actually be a ruse to conceal the fact the ground water used by the school’s well is totally contaminated, which reflects on the government.
Oh come on, nobody’s that stupid... :(
“And that has what to do with a dumbazz school superintendent poisoning children?”
He’s making a point about the mentality of a culture that would do something like that.
“Just like years ago when some CCP-owned pet food company tried to cut costs by using some plastic crappola feedstock instead of the more expensive actual protein product . “
It was Melamine and they put the same poison in some people food over there.
This isn’t the totality of the story. Since China is so utterly corrupt, the school in cahoots with the local government and hospital tried to cover it up. They fixed the test results so that when the families had their kids tested, they did not show lead poisoning. It was only discovered (though obviously highly suspected even without a test) when families started leaving the province to get tested at random hospitals did it show massive lead poisoning.
“We are long past the point where ignorant and amoral people need to be excluded from any decision-making part of a any process.
Their inability to grasp risks or their apathy toward them is a massive liability in even simple decisions.”
That is worthy of some famous person’s quote! And bears repeating.
How much lead, and for how long, to make the kids noticably sick?
It should take a while I would think.
I chewed lead fishing sinkers as a kid. Don’t think I got sick off themn.
Were they still hungry two hours later?
Somebody’s gonna donate all organs.
