Would that include the "plus-size travelers" from an earlier FR post? LOL

“It’s the volume of resources required to sustain them that matters”

In case you missed it, ressources are totally dependant on human ingenuity and are expanding.
We have now ressources (uranium, rare earths, lithium, silicon, shale...) that just 100 years ago were just useless rocks.

It’s the volume of resources required to sustain them that matters.

From my blog a few years back.

Texas Can Hold The World

Texas has 261,797 square miles of land area

1 square mile = 27,878,400 square feet

So Texas has 7,298,481,484,800 square feet of land area

The world population is 8,062,000,000/5 = 1,612,000,000 households of 5 people each

Dividing the 7,298,481,484,800 square feet of land area in Texas by 3000 (3000 sqft. lots)

Giving us 2,432,827,161 1500 sqft homes on 3000 sqft lots,

Subtracting the 1,612,000,000 households from the 2,015,500,000 1500 sqft homes leaves us with 403,500,000 houses are still empty.

And all of the rest of the world to grow food. And yes, I realize that I didn't allow for roads, etc. That's what the rest of the US is for.

When you fly in general aviation you discover that 95% of the land in the United States is largely uninhabited and void of any presence of man. Really.

That's not to say the 5% we do occupy isn't an environmental mess, but it's much, much less polluted and stressed than it was 100 years ago. For gosh sakes, Lake Erie caught on fire it was so polluted. Municipalities dumped raw sewage and untreated industrial waste into rivers and streams. Combustion stacks had no scrubbers or recovery systems. That's all changed now.

It depends on how one defines "overpopulated". Having done a good bit of traveling in what one could call the "Third World" (Africa,Asia and South America) and seeing how little they have there's no doubt in my mind that it's impossible for the 6 billion people (that number being just my rough estimate) living lives of grinding poverty will never see anything remotely resembling the standard of living that most people in the "First World" currently enjoy and have enjoyed for many, many decades.

Also,I could be wrong (and hope I am) but it seems very possible that the First World's standard of living will decline as a result of the efforts of those 6 billion to obtain a cart made of tin rather than wood and to enjoy two bowls of rice a day rather than one.

Whose pollution? China and India are BY FAR the biggest polluters of every kind. The air quality index for most of the western world is typically around 40-60, while many parts of India are in the 600-800 range some days, and the best locations are typically in the 80-100 range, as is the majority of China.

If you have every person on earth enough land to grow his own food they would all fit in Texas and Oklahoma, iirc.

I've heard Catholics repeat that nonsense. Is that where you heard it? It takes more than land it takes arable land with water. Be my guest and go to West Texas on your three miserable acres and live there off the land for three years and get back to me.

Pollution has decreased dramatically over the last decades.
Just look up any existing long term data, eg on atmospheric pollutants.
Your destruction/pollution tropes are just balooney. Nothing against you but I’m sick and tired of people parrotting stupid ganggreen’s propaganda.

Username checks out.

That’s how much space it would take. Obviously there are other factors to be considered. Still the US alone is roomy enough. Don’t forget your meds today. You need them.

I have read several years back that you could take every person in the world, give them an acre of land and could fit them all in the State of Texas.

There is probably truth to that. It is really a misallocation of resources and not overpopulation that is the root of the problem.

Not to worry. The One World Order, under the guise of Climate Change, is working really hard at making sure every poor country gets what is coming to the from the developed, western nations.

“ I just drove 250 miles through southwest Virginia. I’ll bet we didn’t see 2 dozen people. There’s zero overpopulation.”
Southwest NM is pretty much the same way except that you would be lucky if you saw two people.

The world is nowhere near overpopulation.

That myth grounds massive rationalizations of violence against humanity ranging from abortion to deliberately deadly viruses.

Well, I was thinking of a husband, wife, and 3 kids, but didn’t you ever have roommates in college?
