Just something fun to cleanse your timeline:
Steve Stewart-Williams @SteveStuWill · Follow “[W]omen consistently have more sensitive hearing than men - by about two decibels on average - regardless of age or where they live… The researchers suggest that this may reflect a universal biological trait rather than a culturally specific pattern.”
You weren't imagining those mom superpowers. She really does have spidey senses.
The study was led by Dr. Patricia Balaresque from France's Centre for Biodiversity and Environmental Research in Toulouse and was published in Scientific Reports. It looked at 448 people across five countries and measured how the inner ear responds to sound through a technique used in newborn hearing screenings.
Scientists can measure an "echo" from your ear called "Transient-Evoked Otoacoustic Emissions" that indicates how the hairs in your cochlea respond to brief sounds, like a click or a snap.
Women's ears were a bit perkier.
In the population-based model (a), for amplitude metrics, strong contrasts were observed between population pairs, particularly those including Amerindian populations ... Sex also contributed significantly, explaining around 2 dB differences between men and women. Age sub-classes showed estimates ranging from 1.4 to 3 dB, with notable homogeneity observed between the youngest (18 - 25 and 25 - 35 years) and oldest (35 - 45 and 45 - 55 years) age groups, suggesting significant age-related trends...
So husbands, next time you fail at listening to your wife, just sit her down and say, "Don't be angry, honey, I'm just at a biological disadvantage."
I'm sure that'll go over REALLY WELL.
What’s a woman?
When I used to work in Nuclear Medicine back in the day, I recall being at the front desk to do some task, and I heard a soft, but audible squealing sound I couldn’t identify.
I have always been someone to whom unexplained sounds can become a fixation until the source is tracked down, and this was no exception. But no matter how hard I tried, I simply could not locate the source, kind of like the same thing that happens with devices that chirp because the batteries are low.
After walking around, I figured it had to be coming from a speaker embedded in the ceiling tile right above where a patient was sitting. There was a little adjustment screw right in the middle of the speaker, and I figured if I adjusted the volume a bit, it might go away.
So I stood on a chair right below the speaker, decreased it a little, but could still hear the sound coming from the speaker. Puzzled, I turned it all the way down, but the whining sound persisted. So I asked the elderly gentleman if he could move over to another seat, and he didn’t answer me. His wife was walking back into the waiting room and said loudly to him “YOU NEED TO MOVE OVER TO THIS CHAIR!”
Then she put her hand on his ear and said “YOU NEED TO TURN UP YOUR HEARING AID SO YOU CAN HEAR HIM!” Then pulled her hand away and said “Goodness, it is already turned all the way up!”
He was just getting feedback from his hearing aid and didn’t even hear it!
Whatever one is, the mute button doesn't seem to work on 'em. It's maddening.
“Possibilities:
1. Women have talked so much that it has worn men’s ears out2.
2. Women don’t listen so their ears don’t have as much wear and tear.
3. Men’s ears are fine but they have developed selective hearing.
4. Women’s ears are superior because they hear things that were never even said.”
5. Men’s hearing is inferior because G-d loves us more and understands he made us live with women.
Yeah, but to what are they listening?
Memory is strongly tied to emotion. Men will remember vividly the birth of their child. Women will vividly remember why they were pissed off at you three Tuesdays ago.
My wife has some of that...
Have you ever seen any study whatsoever claiming men are superior to women in anything? Neither have I. Interesting, huh?
Ain’t that the truth...
the joke is “why do husbands die before their wives... because they can.”
“They have better memories as well.”
Like their hearing, both have selective.

My favorite is
Can I mumble dogface to the potato patch?
I used to say that my wife catches 10 of every 3 mistakes I make.
LOL!
I like that one.
I said 'okay, I understand. But is there a downside?'
ME: Mmmm.
HER: The town called and they said they were going to send someone out to fix our road.
ME: Mmm hmm. That's good.
HER: We are going to go to my sister's house on Saturday-don't forget the book for her husband.
ME: Okay.
HER: We need to call about the water heater issue.
ME: Will do.
HER: I noticed there are some shingles on the shed that need to be fixed. The drain in the bathroom is a little slow. The lawnmower blade needs to be sharpened. I'll go shopping on Tuesday morning, then after that, I'll cut off my head with dental floss.
ME: Sure.
That said, I DO listen to EVERY word she says.
There is always the chance she will quiz me: "What did I just say?" and instead of saying "What? You didn't hear it?" I need to make sure I am not caught flat-footed! (I do listen to what she says!)
I found out that hearing aid batteries just go dead quick after a certain point.
After I found out I would just stop talking in the middle of a sentence to my dad and he would think his hearing aid went out. After he put his hand up to his ear and hearing the feedback, he would look at me and say you a$$hole.
Lol!
