I lived in Alberta and still do business there. For that province, joining the U.S. would be a bad move. Being under the control of an oppressive government in Washington is a million times worse than living under a dopey jackass like Justine Trudeau.

I don’t know about Alberta, but Canada as a whole is extremely far Left. And it has a pretty big population. If Canada becomes a state, they would get 2 Far Left senators and a whole truckload of Far Left congressmen. We would lose Congress forever.

Alberta is just like America North. I worked up there for years and you really couldn’t tell the difference between Alberta’s and Arizonans other than one had better tans.

Alberta probably would secede from Canada and join the US as the 51st state if they had the choice. Firstly as a state, they would keep far more of the wealth their massive oil reserves generate like Alaska, Texas and South Dakota do. As it is almost all of that money is siphoned off to subsidize Ontario and Quebec. Albertans hate that with a passion.

Secondly, Alberta had a great many Americans among its early settlers and they have more of the (Western) American mentality. ie they want smaller government, value personal liberty and want to be left the hell alone. As a state, Alberta would have much more local autonomy. Ontario and Quebec are just the opposite. As the two most populous provinces they can pretty much run roughshod over much of the rest of Canada so they do. They obviously don’t want decentralized power for that reason.

What can be said about Alberta can be said to a lesser extent about Manitoba, Saskatchewan and the non Vancouver part of British Columbia.

Canadians feel free to tell me if I’m wrong about any of this, but these are the impressions I’ve been given by many of the Canadians I’ve known.

America is just fine the way it is (50 states), and bringing in a bunch of people who really don’t have a clue about what America has been, is, and can be again is not a positive. Observing the calibre of elected officials usually tells you all you need to know about what sort of people elect them, and in Canada’s case they need to stew in their own juices without screwing up what’s happening in America.

I am all for it. Send a couple of US Marine Divisions in to occupy Ontario and Quebec, and seize every provincial capital.

Cake walk.

Canada is ripe for the picking.

The population hates its government, after Trudeau closed down the populist Freedom Convoy, declared them terrorists, confiscated on line donations in the amount of millions, froze donor bank accounts and illegally used the Emergency War Measures Act, criminally prosecuting the movements leaders for exercising free speach. Canadians are a subjected, conquered people who have been reduced to cowering in fear of their own government. They detest Trudeau. So much that the liberals forced his resignation BUT HE STILL WON”T GO.

Make it a territory like Puerto Rico.

The people of Canada are bleating sheep. Trudeau has taken all of the fight out of them.

The majority of Canadians would welcome being a territory of the United States of America.

I can see the U.S. expanding to include all of North America ... And maybe Greenland in the future. But right now all I see is a nation divided. I’m not sure we can survive adding a far left Canada right now. Greenland is another story. Lots of land and resources. Very few people. Strategically needed.

Let’s add Greenland and think about Canada.

There are large swaths of Canada that I would not want as part of the US. However, if Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba seceded and combined as one state (New Canada) ... I would be OK with that.

Taking Alberta would triple the USA oil reserves and add 30% or more in coal reserves as well. We definitely want Alberta. Calgary is Houston of the North it’s full of oil men. Albertans hate the French Canadians and their constant government control over them.

Coal

Shale gas and oil

And of course oilsands..which Canada has as much of as Saudi Arabia does sour oil. Twice what’s in the Midland Basin I also might add.

Alberta is also just in the other side of the dry Great Plains its eeastern side is relatively flat and it has lots of water flowing that way. It doesn’t take long to see the pipelines running south full of fresh water desperately needed in Montana, Wyoming and the Dakotas.

Yeah we want Alberta. Give them two senators and 20 ish reps its worth it for sure.

A few years back we were vacationing on Guadeloupe and got talking to a guy from Alberta. He described Alberta as “Canada’s Texas”. And he wasn’t just referring to oil...he was also referring to politics.
