Democrat Sen. Tina Smith goes on tirade, rips ‘d–k boss’ Elon Musk over demand all federal workers answer productivity question: ‘What did you do last week?’

A Democratic senator went on a crude online tirade over Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) demand for all federal workers to answer a simple question about their productivity.

Tina Smith (D-Minn.) called the world’s richest man a “d–k boss” for orchestrating the email that went out to federal workers on Saturday with the subject line, “What did you do last week?”

Smith’s tirade comes as several government departments — including Kash Patel’s FBI — are instructing their employees not to respond to the message.

In a similar fashion to the types of sporadic requests Musk blasted out to his employees at Tesla and SpaceX, the Office of Personnel Management dished out the demand to federal workers — five bullet points with their accomplishments by 11:59 a.m. on Monday. It instructed them not to include any classified material.

Musk then publicly wrote on X that “failure to respond will be taken as a resignation” — something that was not noted in the email blast. He was adamant that “the bar is very low here.”

“This is the ultimate d–k boss move from Musk – except he isn’t even the boss, he’s just a d—,” Smith (D-Minn.) jabbed on X.

Musk’s answer to “What did you do last week?” is: “I launched 50 satellites, enables satellite communications for millions of people, fired 20,000 government grifters.

Yes, it is sad. Our civilization lost much when so many women began talking this way.

Yup

Elon has had lawyers review federal work place rules and they probably put monitoring software in place to review work habits and job performance. The last few weeks

So

If you do not respond to the DOGE job survey request you are fired for cause for not following job directives

If you respond untruthfully to the work survey you are fired for lying

If you respond truthfully that you did little or no work then you are fired for cause for not working

If you respond truthfully to the work survey that you did do your job but that job function is wasteful , unnecessary or redundant you get RIFed

If you respond truthfully to the work survey but another person is doing the same job function but their job performance is superior to your job performance You get RIFed and they stay on

I notice a trend developing……..

Every job I ever worked I had to write status reports on a regular basis.

I worked in aerospace for 30+ years. I had to do the same, submit weekly progress reports to my boss so he could compile his report to his manager. That’s how the real world works.

“Every job I ever worked I had to write status reports on a regular basis.”

***********

When you’re working for someone its expected that you will keep them appraised of what you’re doing, what progress is being made, and whatever challenges there may be ahead in order to make adjustments to deal with them. Common sense for most people.

Like you, I’ve written countless status reports for my bosses and our clients. Its called communication and coordination — except in the government its called employee harassment.

People who are production and goal oriented are usually enthusiastic about talking about their personal contributions to a team effort.

As a federal contractor, I have to supply a monthly report to my company complete with details on the work I did, and any problems I encountered, along with possible solutions for people in the future. If I did any travel (which I never have done), I would have to report that, too.

So assuming this email holds up, I don’t think it would be too difficult for my federal colleagues to come up with 5 bullets each on what they did last week. Contrary to stereotype, they are good, hardworking people, so this shouldn’t be too hard.

With all of publicity this has gotten, I wouldn’t think the ghost thing will work. Someone will respond on behalf of the ghost, masking it. One thing slackers and thief’s are good at is hiding.

Musk occasionally asks employees the same thing at SpaceX, Tesla, and xAI: "What did you do last week?" I think he usually asks for a brief mention of 5 things you did. You can fill it out in a few minutes. If you accomplished five smaller objectives, one each day, list those. But say you spent your entire week working on one project - just list the 5 subtasks or whatever you (partially?) completed that week. So easy. If the bosses want more details, let them come back and ask for details, which you can easily provide, assuming you actually did work for the compensation you're receiving. If you had nothing to do last week, you should have asked your boss for an assignment. After all, you are being paid. Otherwise, later. Seems fair to me.

Some fools in the government are actually refusing to fill out the form. What are they thinking? What are they hiding?
