The Trump administration is shutting down EV chargers at all federal government buildings and is also expected to sell off the General Services Administration‘s (GSA) newly bought EVs.
GSA, which manages all federal government-owned buildings, also operates the federal buildings’ EV chargers. Federally owned EVs and federal employee-owned personal EVs are charged on those 8,000 charging ports.
The Verge reports it’s been told by a source that plans will be officially announced internally next week, and it’s seen an email that GSA has already sent to regional offices about the plans:
“As GSA has worked to align with the current administration, we have received direction that all GSA-owned charging stations are not mission-critical.”
The GSA is working on the timing of canceling current network contracts that keep the EV chargers operational. Once those contracts are canceled, the stations will be taken out of service and “turned off at the breaker,” the email reads. Other chargers will be turned off starting next week.
“Neither Government Owned Vehicles nor Privately Owned Vehicles will be able to charge at these charging stations once they’re out of service.”
Colorado Public Radio first reported yesterday that it had seen the email that was sent to the Denver Federal Center, which has 22 EV charging stations at 11 locations.

He don’t give a crap.Hes on a mission which apparently he loves.
Seems stupid or spiteful to take out the EV chargers. If charging is currently free that’s easily fixed.
Or make cables long enough to reach more than one space. Not hard to design a port that can easily reach 4 parking spaces
Hopefully they are in the group that was shown the door.
Looks like a baby carriage on steroids...just needs the handle.
Yes, as far as I know. My Stepson bought a Tesla because of it, he commutes 130 miles/day into DC (when he is not working at home)!
Snooping around a bit, it appears ChargePoint was managing the EV charging stations at the Denver Federal Center, so EV owners would be paying to use them.
A federal judge will come along in a few days to tell Trump to turn those charging stations back on.
The lawsuits are endless
No all charging ports are equal, or use DeFacto-standards.
....... of no real value (to Elon).
Why do they need EVs if they work at home.
Yep, no doubt. I was talking about that on other threads..How do these judges have more power than the President? The President is THE executive branch of the government, so how can some activist judge rule over that? Isn’t it the duty of Congress to limit the power of the President? So basically what we have here are judges running the country, not the President, it’s outrageous. Nobody elected these assholes.
That would make the most sense, but I suspect that the government is so inept (or maybe diabolical) that the electricity to charge cars would be “free” and not charged to the car owner. Our daughter’s boyfriend drives a couple miles to the next town to charge his EV for FREE. He brings his bike so he can get home while the car is charging. Then he returns a few hours later to retrieve his fully-charged car.

Back around 2000, I was part of an engineering team that redesigned the EPA’s first HQ for the next tenant. In the parking garage were a row of parking stalls with chargers for GM’s first EV, that was a total failure. The chargers were demo ‘ed.
Now the local gas station...it's in and out all day long....and there's five of them within a mile radius.
Ruh roh Scooby.
Install gas stations at fed bldgs?
