Scientists today released what they say is the biggest-ever artificial-intelligence (AI) model for biology.
The model — which was trained on 128,000 genomes spanning the tree of life, from humans to single-celled bacteria and archaea — can write whole chromosomes and small genomes from scratch. It can also make sense of existing DNA, including hard-to-interpret ‘non-coding’ gene variants that are linked to disease.
Evo-2, co-developed by researchers at the Arc Institute and Stanford University, both in Palo Alto, California, and chip maker NVIDIA, is available to scientists through web interfaces or they can download its freely available software code, data and other parameters needed to replicate the model.
The developers see Evo-2 as a platform that others can adapt to their own uses. “We’re really looking forward to how scientists and engineers build this ‘app store’ for biology,” Patrick Hsu, a bioengineer at the Arc Institute and the University of California, Berkeley, said at a press briefing announcing Evo-2’s launch.
Other scientists are impressed with what they’ve read about the model — which is described in a paper posted to the Arc Institute website and submitted to the bioRxiv preprint server. But they say they will need to kick the tyres before coming to firm conclusions.
“We’ll have to see how it holds up in independent benchmarks after the preprint is out,” says Anshul Kundaje, a computational genomicist at Stanford University in Palo Alto. So far, he is impressed by the engineering that underpins the model.

They are happy to work in the office, never complain, and can use AI efficiently enough to run the entire government. They hate waste and love conservatism.
And let’s make sure they know how to spell (i.e., the word “write” not “right”).
Paging Dr. Moreau. Please pick up the white courtesy phone.

That’s how we got ManBearPig! Include gator for the gratuitous South Park Reference.
Since their description in the late 1990s, human artificial chromosomes (HACs) carrying a functional kinetochore were considered as a promising system for gene delivery and expression with a potential to overcome many problems caused by the use of viral-based gene transfer systems. Indeed, HACs avoid the limited cloning capacity, lack of copy number control and insertional mutagenesis due to integration into host chromosomes that plague viral vectors. Nevertheless, until recently, HACs have not been widely recognized because of uncertainties of their structure and the absence of a unique gene acceptor site. The situation changed a few years ago after engineering of HACs with a single loxP gene adopter site and a defined structure. In this review, we summarize recent progress made in HAC technology and concentrate on details of two of the most advanced HACs, 21HAC generated by truncation of human chromosome 21 and alphoidtetO-HAC generated de novo using a synthetic tetO-alphoid DNA array. Multiple potential applications of the HAC vectors are discussed, specifically the unique features of two of the most advanced HAC cloning systems.
Humans have BILLIONS of genes. 99% of trait differences are not determined by genetics, but by epigenetics and by messenger proteins like mRNA.
With so many gene sequences to choose from human cells don’t need more. The keys to revising human traits lies with the vote counters, not with the votes.
If it is using Generative AI, it will still be severaly limited by what has been done in the past. It doesn’t learn anything new at all. Only Torque Clustering AI can do this, and there are no working models that use this (yet).
This will not end well.
and don’t forget..They work will for FREE!
Can we call them Nipple Necks?
Besides everything?
This is why I think Jesus’ return is soon.
If He doesn’t came back soon, mankind will destroy itself.
They can’t stop themselves. As long as they are funded they’ll carry on. Just like CERN and their black holes.
