A Tennessee woman has been banned from every Walmart in the country after an epic shoplifting spree.
Ashley Cross, 37, cannot enter any of the grocery giant's 4,600 stores after being caught running a bar code scam.
Cross, a known shoplifter, was caught using barcode for a watch battery to scan multiple items for $1 at self-checkouts.
Memphis Police caught Cross in the process of stealing a pair of jeans, a t-shirt some boots and 11 packs of ramen noodles from a Walmart on Elvis Presley Boulevard earlier this week.
The total haul was valued at $137.34, according to the police report.
She wasn’t working alone — another woman with her was charged with stealing $57.86 worth of goods, which included two bras.
Due to her history of theft, Cross has now found herself on list that bans her from entering another Walmart again.
'We value our customers and associates and want them to have a pleasant shopping experience,' Walmart said in a statement.
'Though rare, there are instances when someone is no longer welcome in our stores.'
Cross has been charged for criminal trespass and theft of merchandise less than $1,000.
She is currently being held in jail on a $7,500 bond, according to News 3.
Cross is due to appear in court on February 19.
Shoplifting is an ongoing concern for Walmart, and the chain has made great effort to try and curtail it.
Self-checkouts have been a particular issue, leading staff to manually check customers' receipts against the items in their bags.

Everette, are we kicked out of all Piggly Wigglys or just that one? Delmar
Not Piggly Wigglys
And stay out o' the Woolsworth!
No, they just need to apprehend shoplifters, call the police, and press charges against them.
A simple computer program at self-checkout could easily alert security to people stealing. It's not difficult at all. Camera shows you 12 items in your possession but only scanned 9 of them. Security is notified. Scanner shows you scanned the same $0.99 battery 12 times. Security is notified.
You're apprehended at the door. Cops called. Charges pressed. Walmart quickly earns a reputation as someplace you don't want to steal from.
Smile for the camera.
We should get a discount for scanning our own stuff.
kinda difficult to apprehend anyone when you don’t have anybody working the front lines...
computers aren’t the answer...
Doesn’t the machine weigh the items and know it wasn’t a $1 battery?
I suspect the receipt checkers focus on mild, respectable-looking people who are unlikely to harangue them or punch them out. "Yes boss, I checked 17 church ladies, 2 nurses and a grandpa the last 20 minutes."
The $950 limit has been thrown out with the vote last November here. Along with that ahole George Gascon. Ca is now prosecuting shop lifting and other petty theft as normal. This was a very bad idea from some very stupid people in state govt. It’s all gone now thanks to a proposition on our Nov ballots.
When I go to my local Kroger, I always try to use the self-check out just next to the clerk’s station. The lady normally on duty is named Caroline and she is the nicest and most efficient lady I can recall ever meeting at a large retail store. She and I chat as I check out my products and she keeps an eye out for others who need assistance.
Caroline never complains if I do something stupid like enter “11” instead of “1” for the number of heads of lettuce I’ve purchased. She calmly corrects my error and then laughs because she knows I’ve done that exact thing more than once. I don’t like people who take advantage of Caroline and cheat at the check-out line.
LOL. Now that's a high roller.

Watch batteries are so light I don’t think they even register as an item by weight. In my experience, when I scan something that light, for instance a greeting card, the machine doesn’t wait for me to bag it before resetting for the next scan. Maybe that’s one reason why she used a watch battery.
And who’s watch the entry to catch banned people?
FART? And how is force implemented?
You expecting a retired Greeter Granny to take on a 37-year-old Gimme Girl?
About the only thing the idiot voters here did right was eliminate that last year.
She would be arrested in CA for shoplifting.
Then the morons go and vote an additional 50 cent per gallon gas tax.(which just hit today and the leftists who voted for it are losing their shit.)
Perhaps but then it would be bad coding. It should be programmed to flag if 20 swipes of a 2 oz battery doesn’t equal the weight of jeans and the other items. Maybe some extra weight for bags or a box but still a large cardboard box weighs less than 1 lb. And perhaps the machine doesn’t check the data on how many of those batteries are in stock at that store? Or she’s clever enough to count them first?
... after they created the problem by getting rid of paid clerks and outsourcing the work to customers who charge themselves $0 for their orders.
That’s not how it works.
There will always be one Walmart associate manning the self checkout with their Walmart issued phone.
That phone shows everything that’s being scanned by customers.
If the associate sees something that doesn’t match the item shown by the phone, they shut down the scanner so the customer can’t scan the rest of their items and then the associate “assists’ them.
