whole lot of verses that don’t really have anything to do with the biblical liberty of enjoying life-

Kings in the old testament, and even people like moses, paul etc, all had wealth and enjoyed life- Paul havign known both poverty and wealth- having far far more than they ‘Needed”- They ate the best foods money could buy (More-so the kings, and moses and lot)- when they obviously ‘could have’ scoured the markets for the budget meat- but didn’t-

Jacob too worked and amassed great wealth with the sheep he accrued working for corrupt relative- God saw to it that he became very wealthy and very powerful-

[[Which itself I consider to be a waste of time.]]

Because you personally don’t enjoy hanging out with others who enjoy gaming obviously- which is fine- but a ‘waste of time’? God doesn’t call fellowship a waste of time- and not all fellowship is in a church or religious group and 24/7

[[For God shall bring every work into judgment,]]

Yes he will, and he will not be condemning those who lived lavishly UNLESS they did so in an evil manner, making idols of their ‘things’ their ‘wealth’ etc-

You are too hard on yourself needlessly- God made the vine to cheer the hearts of man, and no, it wasn’t grape juice they were drinking- Was drinking a ‘waste of time’ during Christ’s day, or even today at celebrations? God also allows man to enjoy wealth IF he works it so they can accumulate it via good health, good breaks in life etc- They can afford luxury items such as say a lexus instead of a VW, proper boat instead of a dinghy, expansive houses instead of shacks- etc- All of which are not sins- nor wastes of time and money- The legalist though can’t allow themselves to enjoy any of it because always in the back of their mind is the idea that “The $30,000 i could save by buying a VW instead of a Lexus ‘could go to’ the needy, and therefore it would be a sin for me to indulge in a Lexus model”

David certainly didn’t walk like the others when he could ride in his chariots-

I didn’t really want to get into this sidetrack issue-

whole lot of verses that don’t really have anything to do with the biblical liberty of enjoying life-

Rather, you have further exampled abuse of Scripture. In the OT, they also stoned false prophets, and exterminated whole nations (or were sppsd to), and otherwise often engaged physical warfare, and constantly sacrificed animals, and were very, very often unclean until the evening. And before that even married near kin. Etc.

And if you want to use kings as exampled, Solomon had over700 wives. But pastor Moses can hardly be said to had an enjoyable life (Ps. 90).

But you may have noticed that the OT foretold of a new covenant which was distinctly "not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant," (. (Hebrews 8:7-9; Hebrews 8:7-9) and in which temple ordinances and liturgical seasons and dietary laws as well as physical wealth and warfare were typological shadows of NT realities of the new covenant instituted by the death of Christ.

Thus,

though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) (2 Corinthians 10:3-4)
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. (Ephesians 6:12)
For as Jesus answered,
My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence. (John 18:36)

And as for Paul characteristically physically enjoying life, and having no need as we would understand it, while there were times when he was full, yet his whole life as a believer was contrary to what you advocate, as was the NT leadership, who could attest of,

in all things approving ourselves as the ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses, In stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labours, in watchings, in fastings; (2 Corinthians 6:4-5)
Are they ministers of Christ? (I speak as a fool) I am more; in labours more abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequent, in deaths oft. Of the Jews five times received I forty stripes save one. Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep; In journeyings often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by mine own countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren; In weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness. Beside those things that are without, that which cometh upon me daily, the care of all the churches. Who is weak, and I am not weak? who is offended, and I burn not? (2 Corinthians 11:23-29)
Now ye are full, now ye are rich, ye have reigned as kings without us: and I would to God ye did reign, that we also might reign with you. For I think that God hath set forth us the apostles last, as it were appointed to death: for we are made a spectacle unto the world, and to angels, and to men. We are fools for Christ’s sake, but ye are wise in Christ; we are weak, but ye are strong; ye are honourable, but we are despised. Even unto this present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwellingplace; And labour, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we suffer it: Being defamed, we intreat: we are made as the filth of the world, and are the offscouring of all things unto this day. (1 Corinthians 4:8-13)

Quite a different Paul and leadership than you defend. For in contrary to the prosperity gospel christ, they followed the Lord Jesus, who said,

whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple. (Luke 14:32-33)

To follow Christ is to live a characteristically sacrificial life. Which does not mean you cannot enjoy basic blessings of a modern culture and special blessing God gives for obedience as you follow Him, but not as a life of indulgence but of sacrifice, forsaking hindrances to holiness and service, which I need to improve in.

Because you personally don’t enjoy hanging out with others who enjoy gaming obviously

Heard that before and I see the effect. Less and less kids in the densely populated city I am in (and work on bikes for free, on the sidewalk) come outside to play or be active, or for long, and quickly get bored, have little attention span (as in 3 or a few seconds), less organic community, while over 70% of the US population as a whole is overweight, with over 40% being obese.

Try basketball.

[[For in contrary to the prosperity gospel christ,]]

I never said anything about prosperity gospel and do not believe it is biblical at all- I do however acknowledge that God blesses whom he will for his own purposes- and it is not a sin to enjoy what God allows- There is a fien line between being rich for $$ sake, power sake, and beign rich and giving God the praise and enjoying what he has allowed- The legalist however can never allow themselves to enjoy any of it because works is their God. They are always browbeating themselves about being accountable for every penny because somewhere i n the world is a poor person- and they feel guilty if they can’t practice self denial with that in mind- God never intended for man to live a life of self denial, with their only pleasure being in feeling virtuous. They turn virtuosity into a religion- and are eager to tell everyone about their sacrifices-

Not for me brother=-

We are going to have to agree to disagree- I’m giving you the last word- I didn’t want this to derail the thread-

God never intended for man to live a life of self denial, with their only pleasure being in feeling virtuous.

Rather than responding objectively to what I wrote, you are engaging in a false dilemma. The Christian life in believing in and thus following the Lord who exampled and commanded self-sacrifice, is to be one characterized by that, and being willing to endure the cost of obedience, while enjoying and glorying God for His mercy, grace, and blessings - which vary in scope and degree, as does judgment based upon accountability - but which are to all further His kingdom, with all being a means to that end. That is what the Lord and His leaders and best believers exampled, and exhorted.

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. (Romans 12:1)
Then Peter began to say unto him, Lo, we have left all, and have followed thee. And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel’s, But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life. But many that are first shall be last; and the last first. (Mark 10:28-31)
Moreover, brethren, we do you to wit of the grace of God bestowed on the churches of Macedonia; How that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality. For to their power, I bear record, yea, and beyond their power they were willing of themselves; Praying us with much intreaty that we would receive the gift, and take upon us the fellowship of the ministering to the saints. And this they did, not as we hoped, but first gave their own selves to the Lord, and unto us by the will of God. (2 Corinthians 8:1-5)
Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate; Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life. (1 Timothy 6:17-19)
... unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more. (Luke 12:48)
It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him: If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us: (2 Timothy 2:11-12)
beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak. For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister. And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end: That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises. (Hebrews 6:9-12)
Over.

I have built PCs for myself. But the last two were in 2014. Today I rather buy used on eBay and modify it upward. With more memory and more NVMe and hard drive space.
.
Next year or two I will buy a used OptiPlex i5-12500. With 2x DisplayPort outs, so I can have dual QHD or 4K displays at a high refresh rate. The intel 770 UHD graphics are good enough for moi.

When I buy that used OptiPlex I will install 32GB memory. I currently use 16GB memory, and I can just about get by. My current desktop CPU is i5-8400 with......
500GB NVMe and 1TB hard drive storage

My monitor is 27” QHD ultra low blue light by Dell -— https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0D3FGFPPB/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1 -—— bought as an Amazon return for $105 last Christmas. Has one year Dell warranty.
—— ComfortView Plus technology to reduce blue light emission, minimizing eye strain.-——

If your computer has thunderbolt ports, you can do that through an Inexpensive thunderbolt hub- thunderbolt is lrett awesome, even if it only has 1 connection, the hubs will multiply connections and have plenty of speed/power for daisy chaining many things, including several monitors at high rez

https://dockuniverse.com/how-to-connect-multiple-monitors-to-a-thunderbolt-docking-station/

Also, if you have usb ports, usb porthubs will work‐ they too are Inexpensive

The following has a few ways tO connect without the need for 2 display port connections

Forgot to mention, I didn’t realize there were low blue light monitors- thanks for mentioning that- I wear blue light blocker glasses beczuse my eyes were getting affected by blue light- they would sting and tear up at the end of the night after being on comp. The glasses worked wonders, but would rather not have that tint they use as I wear the glasses all day, and it tints everything a warm hue.

Now thats classic.

I worked for three months in USFK Ration Control on a project. All sales recorded were tabulated in a giant xard reader.

I built my first PC from oarts from the PI, Hapan, Taiwan and Korea in 83. Th motherboard was Apple IIC but I ran DOS. It was a complete a complete bastardization.... it could talk, print, etc. I never knew I would finish my career as a COMSEC manager, and Govt communications exoert. My certifications in Intelligence and Sats, phone exchanges, radio, PTT, DISA Cloud and lo g haul com systems or programming. One if a few with a COMSEC TS desigation among others.

I totally love bits, bauds, soder.

I am reading your thunderbolt link intensively today. I just might go that way. My current desktop is HP with i5-8400 (a 2018 CPU) so it is too old to accommodate a thunderbolt card... so I figure.

But as I plot my next computer buy. ..... I am checking out what computers have thunderbolt ports for a docking station or can digest a thunderbolt card. It seems that most modern average retail computers (Dell, HP, etc) have motherboards that will not handle a thunderbolt card.
I have not built my own own computer since 2014. But perhaps I will. With a motherboard that has thunderbolt ports. Or latest version dual DisplayPorts. Or I think version 1.4 DisplayPorts. I am so done with HDMI! lolzzzzz
THANKS!

Y4ah I’m not sure what motherboards have the capability- I paid through the nose for thunderbolt 5 board, but they should drop in price at some point. I’m not sure if thunderbird 3 can handle dual monitors, it should I would assume- boards with tb3 should be pretty inexpensive- if I were to build one for general use, I would look for tb3 and skip the high price of tb5 for now. I’m not sure how far back tb goes, maybe to version 1- I would have to look into it more. If so, not sure what they are capable of. But tb3 with a hub sounds like a pretty good option for not much $$ perhaps.

I’ve only ever built 1 myself, and it was a lot of fun (although I made a huge mistake and my cooler wasn’t working unbeknownst to me, and computer kept bogging way down, freezing, and I would reboot not realizing what was wrong, until it dawned on me it was temperature related. Brand new cpu! Hope I didn’t hurt it, but took me with my addled brain about 20 minutes to realize what was going on- temps got as high as 93c 0nce I realized what was happening and checked. Uggh- huge mistake)

Anyway, happy building- hope you find a good solution to the dual monitors. The dual display ports might be all that is needed and a lot less expensive for ya.

There seems to be a pretty large group of 70s nerds here. We have the need to take things apart and build our own. We share a bond with tinkerers who do the same with cars, motorcycles, guns and pretty much anything that can be modified, including computer programs. I’ll bet most of them can be found in the Usenet archives as well.

“Anyway, happy building- hope you find a good solution to the dual monitors. The dual display ports might be all that is needed and a lot less expensive for ya.”

This is why I scope out ebay for an i5-12500 or i5-13500 OptiPlex with dual DisplayPort. At the right used price of course! Both CPUs have the current ultimate Intel UHD 770 graphics. Which is pathetic graphics compared to Ryzens with onboard graphics. But plus+++ good enough for non-gaming.

An Intel UHD 770 computer with dual DisplayPorts will support dual 4k monitors at 60hz and dual QHD monitors at 100Hz, though iirc correctly its even higher than 100hz for QHD. I did all that research quickly via Perplexity AI.

Intel UHD 770 graphics is in desktop CPUs. Intel is screwy, because its latest laptop CPUs have graphics that are 100%? better and kinda suitable for gaming
________________________

Perplexity AI says-—

Conclusion
The Intel Iris Xe integrated graphics in the 13th Gen mobile processors is approximately 43%-73% better in various benchmarks and real-world scenarios compared to the Intel UHD Graphics 770, making it a more capable option for users requiring enhanced graphical performance.

Grok AI says-—
Given these points, we can conclude that the Intel Iris Xe integrated graphics in 13th Gen mobile processors is approximately 72% to 400% better in benchmarks and real-world scenarios compared to the Intel UHD Graphics 770, depending on the specific test or application.
