Now the truth comes out: Reporters admit Politico snuffed out Hunter Biden laptop story to protect Joe in 2020
NY Post ^ | 1/23/25 | Post Editorial Board

Lest anyone still have doubts, two ex-Politico reporters just confirmed how far the media went to protect Joe Biden prior to the 2020 presidential election.

It’s solid proof that these outlets can’t be trusted.

On a podcast this week, Axios’ Mark Caputo and Puck’s Tara Palmeri revealed that Politico intentionally killed or resisted negative stories about Biden and his son — citing, for instance, its limited coverage of The Post’s election-eve scoop on Hunter Biden’s laptop.

“Politico did that terrible, ill-fated headline: 51 intelligence agents, or former intelligence agents, say that the Hunter Biden laptop was disinformation,” recalled Caputo.

“Turns out that story was closer to disinformation, because the Hunter Biden laptop appeared to be true.”

Caputo told his editor the outlet needed to “write about the Hunter Biden laptop” but was instructed, per orders from “on high” at Politico, not to: “Don’t write about the laptop. Don’t talk about the laptop. Don’t tweet about the laptop,” he was told.

So “the only thing Politico wound up writing was that piece that called it disinformation.”

Caputo also cited his reporting in 2019 on a tax lien Hunter got for his Burisma income.

“That story was killed by the editors. And they gave no explanation.”

Just another example of how Democrat operatives handle negative stories.

Lie and deny.
Lie and deny some more.

Years later: Yeah, some of it might be true. But it’s old news. Let’s all move on now.

“Politico” is not government. It is private sector.

But, to your point, whoever would have expected a far-left media company to publish bad news about Democrats or Biden?

“That story was killed by the editors. And they gave no explanation.”

Here's the explanation, which I've been posting for years.

As I've written before for people who do not know the origins of Axios and Politico:

Politico was founded in 2007 by two Washington Post employees:

Together with former banker and then-CEO of Albritton Communications Robert Albritton (who owned several ABC-affiliated television stations in Washington, D.C.), they founded Politico as a internet-based immediate news outlet, with Harris as the Editor-in-Chief and VendeHei as the Executive Editor. Politico initially positioned itself as a neutral news source but quickly reverted to its Washington Post roots by hiring Michael Kinsley and Joe Scarborough as opinion writers. They eventually hired Susan Glasser from The New Yorker to be their opinion editor.

At some point Politico hired Mike Allen, who was a journalist for The New York Times and Time Magazine. Allen was hired to write a daily email newsletter for Politico.

In 2016, VandenHei and Allen left Politico to start Axios. Axios was established to be a digital short-form news source that focused on industry-specific stories. I think of it as a USA Today for Politico.

So, you can see that Politico is simply a front for the writers of The Washington Post, The New York Times, New Yorker, Time, MSNBC, Los Angeles Times, Slate, etc. Axios publishes a story or poll, then Politico writes a full piece on it, then the NYT and WaPo report that Politico and Axios said so and such... and then the rest of the LAAP-dog media report the NYT story. That's how the left gets its message into the mainstream subconscious.

This is the Democrat implementation of what the Clinton White House described as the "Communication Stream of Conspiracy Commerce" in a secret 1995 memo to describe the rise of the alternative right-wing media, or what Hillary Clinton called it, "the vast right-wing conspiracy." The full memo is here.

Politico and Axios are where the Democrats go to lay the foundations for whatever narrative they need to push into the American subconscious.

"They knew it was true at the time"

There MUST be grounds for at least conspiracy prosecutions of these people.

I’m actually thinking, that despite the downturn of our nation over the past 4 years, that having Biden (Obama) as President was the best thing that could have happened. Trump’s eyes were opened even further to The Swamp and he has come back in a much stronger position.

Obama’s cabal is weakened and irrelevant. Hopefully, this will have led to a new era for the US that it hasn’t seen since the end of World War 2. This country needs to lead and be an example to other countries.

Shouldn’t they all go to jail for this??

Actually, there must be communication that is better than what WikiLeaks found in 2016, and more secure than Hillary’s email server. Anyone who believes this is all accidental or ideological must also believe in little faeries.

I agree with your observation. A taste of totalitarianism has motivated many complacent voters to become more actively involved.

The public needs to become VERY AWARE of the “wrap up smear”, as Nancy Pelosi very publicly described it. And they need to see how gossip rags are used to justify legal proceedings.

In light of all that, Murkowski refusing to support Hegseth because there are allegations all comes into view. Finding out whether somebody is being slandered by false accusations is not part of the equation because truth doesn’t matter. Only the fact that there are allegations - no matter how far-fetched or already-proven-wrong they are - matters when the “wrap up smear” is being used. And it is ALWAYS being used by democrats.

I think the public knows the overall picture, which is why Trump was elected. But I think they need to see the nitty-gritty details so they know to guffaw loudly whenever certain “news media” dare to say anything. And so they cheer loudly when those who collaborate with the nation’s enemies are tried for treason.

Legacy media is losing readers and viewers.
They are laying off staff.
They are on shaky financial ground already.

I’m expecting a lot of lawsuits over election interference and illegal campaign contributions. Legacy media is going to be bankrupt.

I am sick to death of the damned Bidens, their laptops, their treason, their illegitimate kids, their pedophilia, their incest and much more filth!

Unfortunately, they’ll never be forgotten thanks to the stupid and very few Delaware vomers.

If only old man Biden had stayed in Scranton America would have had a better chance of dodging this decrepit bastard.
