Insurance industry calls Harris' claim that insurers are canceling policies 'false, wrong and dangerous'
The insurance industry is pushing back after Vice President Kamala Harris suggested insurance companies have canceled the policies of victims of California's wildfires, calling her claim "false, wrong and dangerous."
During a press conference regarding the ongoing wildfires on Thursday, Harris said, "Many insurance companies have canceled insurance for a lot of the families who have been affected and will be affected, which is only going to delay or place an added burden on their ability to recover."
"I think that is an important point that must be raised," she continued, "and hopefully there can be some way to address that issue, because these families — so many of them — otherwise will not have the resources to recover in any meaningful way, and many of them have lost everything."

In Florida, going without insurance and hoping to get another placing if needed by selling a vacated lot is common.
I do this myself.
Insanity-level insurer fear has the bright side of changing neighborhoods into enclaves of high-asset/high-income, responsible people.
Landlords won’t operate in uninsurable neighborhoods when they have to rent to junkies who might burn down the landlord’s uninsurable building.

The people that own $3 billion of land can put up quite a legal fight.
It is not uncommon for land in LA to be worth three times the value of the house that sits on it.
The Florida land that my house sits on is more valuable than my house.

This is what worries me. Apparently, Newsome has already said he is working with developers to re-zone single family zoned Pacific Palisades to multi family zoning. Think about that Newsome as Gov doesn’t have jurisdiction, City Council does and developers have no say, or at least shouldn’t. Homeowners, citizens are being completely bypassed.

By the end of this year they will cancelled the entire State and moved out completely, and right now the vice prostitutes house is under Mandatory evacuation, all of Brentwood is from the 405 to Mandeville Cyn. Her house is up Kenter not far from the end of the street in the mountains and is in the fire line as we speak.

This is one time when I think Ol’ Kamala is in the right.
The insurance companies are claiming that they are not canceling policies post-fire, but they pretty clearly were (maybe understandably) canceling policies pre-fire.
To: TigerClaws
The Ca fair plan is bankrupt, and it is financially backstopped by the Insurance Companies, they will all LEAVE this State before the gubmint tries to force them to EAT THIS $200 BILLION DOLLAR LOSS. Nobody will get jack squat except maybe a $1000 housing voucher.

Yesterday I was fooled by clickbait on You Tube.
It mentioned that the VP house was in ther evac zone and so was the house of Hunter Biden. However, the actual video never got around to advising about Hunter Biden. Do you know if he has a house that might be in jeopardy?
I’m sorry, but I just had to ask

I heard a story on the radio that California put a cap on what insurance companies can charge for the premiums. Based on that, the insurance companies didn’t renew because they wouldn’t be able to make a profit. Then Sacremento and the media get to blame the “greedy” insurance companies.
