British drag star James Lee Williams, known professionally as The Vivienne, has died at the age of 32.
Williams shot to international fame as the winner of the first UK version of RuPaul’s Drag Race in 2019, and became the first drag performer to compete on Britain’s Dancing on Ice in 2023.
Their death was confirmed early on Monday morning.
“It is with immense sadness that we let you know our beloved James Lee Williams – The Vivienne – has passed away this weekend,” Simon Jones PR posted.
“James was an incredible loved, warm-hearted and amazing person.”

My gay coworker always said that slightly differently; it suggested a completely different meaning...
First of all, greetings and respect, fellow aging rocker. 73 here, been picking 6-strings since the Beatles played Ed Sullivan, still gigging regularly (3 bands), and play bass in one of them (Fender Jazz). Had to give up riding the m/c about a decade ago, the BP meds and neuropathy play hell with my balance.
Just want to tell you your Mother Road lyrics on your FR Profile page are great and I'd love to hear the music, if you have posted a recording anywhere.
Cheers, dayglored
Thanks for your kind words, FRiend.
I remember The Beatles on Ed Sullivan vividly! The Anniversary is coming up, on Feb 9th.
I play a Schecter Diamond Series Bass (two octaves), also guitar (a strat) and keys.
I’m mostly teaching now, but do sound for my younger sister, and jam with friends.
“The Mother Road” is Southern Rock Style, with a chugging shffle beat in the chords, simulating the sound of a Harley V-Twin. I don’t have a recording of it, unfortunately, but here’s a Christmas Song I wrote and recorded many years ago:

And I’m a Girly Girl! LOL! :-)
Sewicide...age 32? Sewicide. Unless biological male had rare disorder. Not surprised if suicide.
I am guessing Williams had multiple personality disorder.
My go-to 6-string is likewise a Strat; I've also got a Les Paul, an SG, and a few others for when the tune requires the humbuckers. One of the bands is playing a 40th birthday party in a month for daughter of a friend; she's a big Tom Petty fan so I'll have to dust off the Ric 12-string for that gig.... fun times!
Your pics very well validate your "Girly Girl" credentials. :-) I'm just an aging guy who went through a long-hair/ponytail phase for a while (a libertarian living in uber-left Ithaca NY has to adopt protective coloration) but alas there's not enough left to make a decent tail any more. My wife is my barber; she's the one who has to look at it, lol.
Thanks again, and have a wonderful rest of the evening.
Ah...a Gibson SC Custom with three gold-plated humbuckers and a Bixby(sp?) Tail Piece passed through my hands back in the 70’s. It was my axe until I had to sell it to pay the mortgage. Mom always told me the roof over your head was the most important bill to pay first!
I also had a 2009 les paul Robot, but I stripped the guts out and made it a regular Les paul because the “robot” wouldn’t take a recharge. It was Gibson’s Edsel! LOL!
Now I have a strat (low end) that was given to me, a Martin Ass/Elec, a Dean Acc/Elec, and a Breedlove Accoustic i rescued from the Salvation Army. I cleaned it up, oiled the fretboard, changed the strings, and it’s SWEET!
may you have a Blessed New Year! :-)
It took me a bit to realize this was a freak and not a race car driver.

Just wow. Thank you.
I remember the Beatles on Eds show - boy did he professionally milk that opportunity.
Thank YOU! :-) I appreciate your kind words. I actually sang that song at a couple of “Open Mikes” just this Christmas. Of copurse, it’s not the same without the Ping-Pong Choir (all me on different Virual Tracks)
A lot of us remember The Beatles on Ed Sullivan, but, just a few weeks later, The Rolling Stones made their American TV Debut on the Mike Douglas Show.
Ooops!
“Ass/Elec should have been Acc/Elec.
Yikes...I think Autocorrect just stung me!

Was the darling a darling of Jesus?
All that matters now. Death comes like a thief.
Sorry. my bad. I’ve never seen it in print, only heard the name spoken.
Nevertheless, I sure do miss that guitar.
Or demonic possession.
And here I thought this would be about a Top Fuel driver.
