I hope I make it to 2025 to post astronomy articles. My greatest fear is being attacked by ducks and right now they are gathering just off the beach of the lake I live on. They are just swimming back and forth looking at me through my kitchen window, staring at my throat. Their beaks look really sharp. There are mottled ducks and wood ducks (those are the worst). There are lots of them. I think the outdoor writers call that a herd. And they are big. All of them together would weigh more than ten boxes. Wish me luck.

Perdogg used to list his own predictions by category, including sports championships. I'm not going to do that, but here are some numbered ones. Meanwhile, my cat's still washing himself.

1. Borders: The border barrier will be resumed, with or without full federal funding.

2. Tariffs: DJT's threats of these will result in favorable terms for the US, and probably a few tariffs.

3. Energy: Methane substitution for liquid petroleum will continue to rise. US petroleum production along with potential future production will increase.

   ---

4. Trade: The Panama Canal carries about 5% of seagoing trade, compared to about 12% through the Suez Canal. In 2024 Nicaragua pulled the plug on a canal project in May, and revived it in November. Watch for US initiatives to improve port facilities on the eastern seaboard as the Left Coast declines in importance to the US economy.

5. Israel: Will finish off the last of Iran's terrorist proxies and increase work on the Ben Gurion Canal possibly with some modifications to its route.

6. Abraham Accords: The removal of the Houthi threat, by Israel and the US, will paradoxically reduce the chance of the Saudis' joining the Accords.

7. Cartels: Chinese fentanyl has been replacing heroin (mostly Asian origin), which has had an impact on illegal drug trade worldwide, but the Assad regime was running a chunk of that and loss of that part of the traffic will benefit the old-school smuggling.

8. Mexico: Its current idiot leader will turn full despot, just as the jackoffs running Venezeula, Nicaragua, and Cuba have done.

9. Space: SpaceX will use a crewless vehicle to orbit the Moon and return to Earth.

10. NASA: will spend most of the year getting shed of the DEI and other Obama-era BS.

11. DoD: Useless green agenda BS will be ended.

12. Rest of Fed Gubmint: Same as NASA and DoD.

13. DoD #2: Various low inventory higher-tech weapons will be returned to production.

14. Untied Nations: UNRWA will effectively cease to exist, which means it'll continue to draw some funding for additional years.

16. Egypt: Its project to build a canal from the Med to the Qattara Depression appears to be a go, just a matter of funding. Two or three boreholes would make more sense -- one from the lowest point in the QD downhill to near the anoxia layer in the Med, the other more or less sealevel to A) fill it faster and B) cycle the leached salts out into the world's oceans.

Forum ideas — I’d wish for a single, National News forum. Threads in News could be keyworded for each state. Most everything would go here but could be filtered out with keywords, much like a Gmail inbox that receives everything but has different views/tabs/filters. Using multiple filters, Humor + Maine keywords would find all the funny stuff in Maine, for example. All states would post to the same global forum but be filtered by state in searches.

World News would be all non-USA news and could have filters available.

Activism, Chapters and AAR might be combined and flagged within a forum unto itself.

Keywords - some awesome keywords/phrases are a little longer than 20 characters, that would be an area I’d like to see expanded to 30.

It would be great if there were a way to do a Wildcard Keyword search to index similar words. For example Marx* would find Marx, Marxist, Marxists, Marxism. Ungh* would find Ungh, Unghh, Unghhh, Unghhhh and so on. Same with Title searches. Meanwhile, Search still works, one word at a time.

A list of all keywords in the database would be MOST entertaining and useful!
