Ugly-ass new logo
Mozilla earned approximately 80% of its income through “revenue-sharing” deals with Google, pushing Google’s search engine as Firefox’s default choice.
Now that Google faces antitrust investigations for this practice, Mozilla and Firefox may suffer a concomitant reduction in revenues.
So what does Mozilla do? They “rebrand” themselves as “advocates” and “activists,” fighting “misinformation.”
Among other marketing gobbledygook at this website, Mozilla’s rebranding director describes her client as “a trailblazing, activist organization in both its mission and its approach…. The new brand presence captures this uniqueness, reflecting Mozilla’s refreshed strategy to ‘reclaim the internet.’ The modern, digital-first identity system is all about building real brand equity that drives innovation, acquisition and stands out in a crowded market.”
This, after already laying off 30% of their staff last month and dropping their “advocacy division”!
In light of all the forgoing, some Mozilla genius also thought it’d be a great idea to go forward with kumbaya-onemind conferences in the Netherlands and Zambia.
For years I’ve relied on Firefox because of its operability across both Mac and Linux OSes— after switching out the default search engine, natch. But any browser that claims to fight “misinformation,” presumably by blocking those whose facts/opinions it disagrees with, is no longer a viable choice.
I didn’t use Brave for images. It isn’t that good.
Nice!
After years of Frefox, Waterfox, Cyberfox and SlimBrowser, I’ve dumped Mozilla for The Edge.
I got tired of websites telling me that they no longer support browsers of my choice.
I have and do continuously hate Google from its first day of operation, and its takeover of Yahoo and YouTube, with the concurreent monkeying.
Perfect post for this day. A gift to Mozilla is: You nearly screwed up my new expensive system. My fault of course for letting you do it to me, to ignore warning symptoms of a browser trying to take over. And guess what? Mozilla.
You did take over the entire browser. Used firefox for years. So now, I don’t have a problem with you tracking me etc, and all my images and videos display perfect through a new browser not eve remotely connected to Mozilla.

Daftly, and succinctly written for Mozilla.
TY Martin for this post. I troubled myself this morning over Mozilla, and then I saw your post. I am dumbfounded that Mozilla would be so ignorant of those who use their products, and your post Martin was encouraging for me
A note to Mozilla. When you mess with people, they get cross. When you cause them real trouble, they delete you, which is what I did. And C Cleaner finished up wiping up the trash from your tracking. Glad I got rid of you. The switch was easy, and now you will get no revenue from me.
I still miss Netscape.
It did everything needed.
Thanks for that info. I’ll definitely be trying Talk!
Thanks to daniel1212 for the ping!
I would guess Mozilla wishes to be supported by lefty billionaires. If this were two years ago Mozilla would be looking for government money to be slipped to it through NGOs and the like. Mozilla is effectively living on charity.
They are idiots at marketing. They should be “Brave” and launch a browser that comes complete with a VPN and no tracking cookies.
Yeah didn’t think of that angle. They are marketing to a certain group of financial backers.
They squeezed their CEO out of his job for being insufficiently woke, back in 2014. He was an early casualty of that nonsense. I haven’t forgotten.
Mozilla went to crap after that. He went on to found Brave.
Beat me to it. I use Brave.
>>>Used to use Firefox until a decade ago when the founder had to resign under pressure from employees and others for his previous donation against the legalization of so-called same-sex marriage.<<<
Exactly the same for me!
I miss Netscape..
And I have been using Brave since then.
Screw Mozilla after they pulled that crap.
The best I found, began by Jap. students, based on Gocko. Floorp Browser: Is It The Most Advanced Cross-Platform Firefox Derivative? Let's take a look at another interesting Firefox fork, Floorp. itsfoss.co ^ | January 20, 2024 . | Sourav Rudra
