Just wondering if any of my fellow FR friends are, like me, enjoying a solo Christmas Eve. I have all the presents wrapped, Christmas music in the background and will spend the evening with my faithful greyhound, Ralphie Parker and then George Bailey -- the same routine every year.
Any of you folks solo this evening?
Lol. I've been in that scenario. It's the most wonderful time of the year..

Merry Christmas Skooz.....Hub and I are sitting here watching TV We had our Christmas on Saturday. This time 7 years ago I didn’t think we’d have another Christmas together but God has blessed us. Every day is a gift with him.
just me dealing with the aftermath of my brother’s suicide and the vultures circling the remnants...

I am alone. No family left. Listening to classical music.
Just me and my better half this year, same as last year. And our two little dogs, who have no interest in the holidays other than the knowledge that treats follow in abundance when the strange tree in the living room lights up. We’ll go out driving a bit later to the la dee da neighborhood a few blocks over to ooo and ahhh over their Christmas lights. Kids now approaching middle age have their own lives and their own traditions, their own Christmas mornings just like ours in days past, but it’s ok.
We’ll sleep late tomorrow morning, dine in the evening on prime rib instead of turkey and lift a glass of wine to toast each other and a life peppered with laughter and tears we’ve been blessed to share with others on this Earth. We get old, families drift, friends and loved ones pass away, hardships come and go, but we find peace in our faith it’s all as it should be.

I have no kids. I’ve been spending Christmas alone for years. Tonight is no different.
I love Christmas. I’ve never been happy that it was over.
I guess every person celebrates it in their own way.
My husband loves the lights, and has to get the outside ones set up right after Thanksgiving. We get all the gifts around for the friends and relatives, and send them off early, so that Christmas itself is OURS. We watched ‘A Christmas Carol’ - the one with George C. Scott - and had pizza tonight, which is our tradition. Now, watching the Christmas Eve service at the National Cathedral.
We live in a largely Hispanic community. As I write, the fireworks are going off all around us (they shoot fireworks for every holiday). Many Hispanic families begin their celebration at midnight tonight, at which time all the family has to be at home, the Baby Jesus is placed in His crib under the tree, the lady of the house finishes up the huge meal and sets it out; and then, celebration and happiness ensue.

I was smitten with the Space Age. I followed the NASA missions closely. Spock was an example of what I believed in. ‘ 2001 A Space Odyssey ‘ had a profound effect on me . At age 8 I truly thought that was the future to be. What a disappointment the real 2001 turned out to be.
