On Wednesday, California Governor Gavin Newsom (D-Calif.) declared a state of emergency in response to an outbreak of avian influenza, also known as “bird flu.”
As Breitbart reports, the disease, also referred to as the H5N1 virus, has primarily been found in dairy cattle. It can be transferred to humans through such methods as drinking raw milk, although it is not yet known if it is contagious between humans.
In his statement, Newsom said that he had “proclaimed a State of Emergency to streamline and expedite the state’s response to Avian influenza A (H5N1), commonly known as “Bird Flu.”
“This emergency proclamation will provide state and local agencies with additional flexibility around staffing, contracting, and other rules to support California’s evolving response,” the statement continued. Newsom also touted the fact that “California has already established the largest testing and monitoring system in the nation to respond to the outbreak.”
The disease has been found across 718 different dairy herds in at least 16 states, after first being detected in Texas and Kansas in March of this year. The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has ordered mandatory tests on dairy cattle in six different states: California, Colorado, Michigan, Mississippi, Oregon, and Pennsylvania.
Too late to affect the election.
They allow drinking raw milk in California ?
Outbreak = 1 person
affect inauguration?
FGN!
Keep voting stupid this is the Government you get
Avion flu... Coasties who service buoys in all Navigable waters know all about bird crap, and have taken to wearing PPE when working around all structures and navigation aides which are laden with it.
Terrible stuff!
Plus once the buoy’s are hauled aboard the buoytenders all the marine growth, barnacles and other fouling have to be scraped off. It’s a smelly and messy job. If it’s large Navigable Rivers all the brush and tangles surrounding fixed sides and signboard have to cleared... that there is snake habitat and down south it means angry cottonmouths are always present.
He’s amassing some cash for his 2028 run?.
Most dairy farmers are Republicans. In Oregon, the feds launched a program to track bird flu via raw milk.
I assure you that their goal is to punish dairy farmers and eradicate herds, destroying their hated raw milk industry in the process. Milk prices are likely to skyrocket in the coming weeks, a big middle finger to voters for failing them.
‘Slash & burn’ on their way out the door.
IMHO, more power to the incoming DOGE to eradicate the jack boot of the bureaucratic state.
Lies
I wonder what he gains by this. Not waiting for the media to explain though.
Round up all the contaminated milk and give
it to the invaders as a welcome drink.
You know you’ve had a bad week when it starts with discovering an angry Cottonmouth in a tangle of barnacles and bird excrement while cleaning a buoy and ends with the flu...
Newsom, like many Democrats, love totalitarian government.
I think he’s trying to scare up federal dollars from the Biden admin before they’re ousted - and take any/all attention off of his failed high speed rail project which Musk and Ramaswamy have vowed to de-fund completely.
He’ll use the federal dollars for his POTUS run.
Sorry Gavin, That has been pulled from the CR.
Up here in the Supreme Soviet of Washington. I don’t know if Reichsfuhrer Inslee will do anything about this, since he’s leaving office soon. (Thank God!)
He utterly LOOOOOVED anything Newscum did during COVID.
The thing is, we have no idea what his replacement, Sideshow Bob Ferguson (also a Dem, cut from the same cloth) will do with this. For all we know, the state of Washington will be the next to declare an emergency and try to shut down the state like his buddy Inslee did. He loved all the power it gave him, including the ability to destroy businesses like he did during COVID.
Fergie was his AG, and helped him to do so.
Another fascist poet grab by a US politician who actually does have Hitlerian characteristics.
