Avion flu... Coasties who service buoys in all Navigable waters know all about bird crap, and have taken to wearing PPE when working around all structures and navigation aides which are laden with it.
Terrible stuff!
Plus once the buoy’s are hauled aboard the buoytenders all the marine growth, barnacles and other fouling have to be scraped off. It’s a smelly and messy job. If it’s large Navigable Rivers all the brush and tangles surrounding fixed sides and signboard have to cleared... that there is snake habitat and down south it means angry cottonmouths are always present.
You know you’ve had a bad week when it starts with discovering an angry Cottonmouth in a tangle of barnacles and bird excrement while cleaning a buoy and ends with the flu...
