I would buy a truck with a V8, automatic, AM/FM radio, AC power brakes and steering. And nothing more.
But NOBODY makes that truck anymore.
Just so I understand does “crash” mean nobody is going to buy new cars or does it mean prices are going to plummet?

100,000 Tundras with V6’s are being recalled. Full engine replacement. Though I give Toyota props for not doing some cheap half measure.
Back in the 80s I took a road trip with 2 other guys to go skiing in Colorado.....I-20 through the DFW area was part of that.....we got passed at 8am by a chick in a Toyota Corolla......I suspect she was doing at least 100....I can’t imagine how it is now.
I’ve seen and heard about when people completely lose their minds over an accident. I would say because they are paying 80-100k for a means of transportation; that places a high premium on it. It also shows where their priorities are a lot of times.
Hey, if a wealthy and blessed person has expensive cars, that’s one thing. It’s when the less well off get them that makes you wonder.
Fending off friends who want help with moving or hauling would dissuade me from any kind of truck. LOL
I have a 2004 Toyota Camry bought new in CA before we retired and left that state - less than 50,000 miles on it.
My husband passed away in 2021 and was sick long before that so we never did the traveling we thought we’d do after moving. All local to doctor appointments etc., and never on the interstate. Since my husband passed away, have had lots of battery problems which is not unexpected due to lack of driving. Glad for AAA.....
I’ve lost track of the number of people who want to buy my car when I’m ready to give up driving. I’m not there yet but it’s not far off. I may not do MUCH, but I do what I have to.
The car is in pristine shape - exactly how my husband kept all of his cars and airplanes and most important hobby - outdoors on a range - (goes with all guys and airplanes)- woe to the person who would DARE put a scratch on any of them! We never so much as ate in that car - I still don’t. Traveling cross country, we found places to stop and eat but never take out in the car. Not a rule, just not a habit we ever had.

Called “technicals.” I’m sure you’re missing a piece of equipment that they had on theirs! At least, I hope so!!!
We live on 2 connecting cul de sac with a mix of grand parents and relatively new parents.
Even the grannies drive suvs.
The parents haul a ton of stuff in their suvs.
Recently a neighbor had a birthday party for his 6 year old.
There were 20 visiting vehicles loaded with kids/toys/?
Only one vehicle was a sedan.

Last year I accidentally backed my 2018 Jeep into a pole in a parking lot.....when I go to trade or sell it outright I know I’m gonna take a hit for my stupidity.

I am a little sympathetic when it isn’t their fault, and they are underwater on their loan, so after the insurer pays, they will owe $7-$10,000 on nothing and need to buy a car.
Good article. Ford screwed up when they changed the manufacturing process, caught it fast, and now things are back to normal. Millions of drivers have these engines and love them. Read the forums.
Lots of people in my area are driving brand new full size Doible cabs. I have no idea how they afford them.

I remember my dad had a used “30” something Buick which served the family well....even had one (no idea of year) that had a trunk - like a real trunk sitting on the back. That had to be really old. For hauling - we had horses and wagons LOL!!
Are you old enough to remember when hitchhikers were picked up on rural roads and they stood on the running boards of the cars to their destination? In the ‘40’s and even into the ‘50’s, that was the way of getting around for many guys.
During the war, there were a lot of servicemen hitchhiking. My dad would pick them up and they would sometimes spend the night at our farmhouse.
My biggest surprise is how unconcerned car dealers are about selling cars.

I guess everyone will have to drive a white, black or grey vehicle. Other colors are extra?
