When you think Halloween, it’s hard not to picture candy corn (gross, but iconic), kids in overpriced costumes, and jack-o’-lanterns grinning like they just got their student loans forgiven. But this spooky celebration, now pretty much an American pastime, wasn’t born in the aisles of Spirit Halloween stores. Nope, it started as a Celtic tradition before America slapped its commercial magic all over it and exported it worldwide like a Marvel movie.

And ask your average person on the street the point of Halloween and I'm SURE you'll not get that as an answer.
Halloween parties, handing out candy and treats, all the *decorations* set up in people's yards to look like graveyards or haunted houses, and the generally festive attitude towards it certainly does make it a celebration of death and TOTALLY obscures any original meaning to the holiday that any church might try to claim.
Nonsense. As someone upthread pointed out, it started as a religious observance.
It has degenerated into a adulation and celebration of death.
It's dark and demonic.
And your false accusations to reasonisfaith are also.
Another example how US culture is poisoning the rest of the world.
When someone has been reduced to name calling, calling you a liar, and false accusation in a rabid, spittle producing rage, there’s no point in posting to them any more.
You can’t reason with someone so consumed with anger.
Good means treating women with respect and protecting them from all kinds of harm.
I don’t think the Honeymooners, or any other comedy, would be a good example.
Go back and watch the old cowboy tv shows, like the Rifleman or the Big Valley. The difference between good behavior and bad behavior is showcased. It’s obvious. (With the exception of alcohol use.)
In these shows, the normal way men treat women is with respect and an attitude of protection.
The bad behavior is done by the riff raff and criminal types, the cowards.
No, it was the media telling us satanic sacrifice didn’t really happen.
You’re telling me to trust the media?
You seem very eager to deny the existence of satanic rituals.
Did you not see the Podesta emails about “spirit cooking?”
These kinds of events involve high level officials like Hillary Clinton, and many different celebrities.
And there are plenty of whistleblowers who survived satanic rituals. But the media hides them, and you need to use an independent search engine to find the information.
Why would google block this content?
That’s only once the Catholic Church decided they wanted to gobble it up. Originally it was celebrating the harvest, and preparing for the hard dark part of the year.
And it is NOT a celebration of death. Nor demonic. And my accusations are not false, he, like is spreading LIES.
What’s funny about you holier than thou liars is that you have the audacity to tell other people what they think, and then deny it when they tell you you’re wrong.
I celebrate Halloween, because it’s fun. So instead of you, a person who doesn’t, telling me what it is you should LISTEN. I don’t tell you what your religious holidays “really” are, so be respectful and intelligent enough to LISTEN to what I and other who celebrate a holiday that is no longer religious tell you. It’s not a celebration of death. And if you say it is you are lying.
Does celebrating Reformation Day involve skeletons, monsters or going door to door for candy?
Because they don’t.
BWAHAHAHAH All of that stuff is abject lies.
Google hasn’t blocked any of that stuff. So you see MORE LIES.
I think you’re giving me good, feminine wisdom and I will do my best to follow your advice.
No. The media STARTED the satanic panic by putting abject liar on talk shows. The whole idea starts Lawrence Pazder writes a book, with his patient, that he’s sleeping with, that’s more fictitious than Roots, detailing a bunch of “ritual abuse” that never happened. And then Phil Donahue puts him on TV. And the world goes nuts. And none of it actually happened.
I’m telling you DON’T trust the media. They’re the ones that made the whole satanic panic. They lied to you. And provided a whole bunch of free publicity to heavy metal in the process.
Yes, it was just fun in those days. Now, I have come to strongly dislike Halloween for what has been done to it. Adults dressing up was bad enough, but, now, there are also occult and demonic elements.
Not that I know of. I celebrate with a bottle of German beer and some bratwurst with red Sauerkraut
“its a celebration of death”, he says.
i request a deeper definition, please?
also, an addemdum....
1st Harvest, Aug. 1 grain. corn dollies
2nd Harvest, Sept 21, fruits of the fields, cornucopia overflowing
3rd Harvest, Oct 31, culling and preparing livestock for storage to have meats over winter.
So putting on a costume and collecting candy is doing the devil's bidding?
Pretty lame devil, I think.
Since after the year 2000, (thanks to George Dubya Bush) to the present, there has been a nonstop influx of Hispanics to where now it is probably pushing well over 90% Hispanic. The change in the neighborhood is very noticable with regard to how many homes are elaborately decorated for Halloween as compared to pre influx, and the decorations aren’t the whimsical type that I was accustomed to in the old days, they are more dark and sinister in nature.
What is odd though is there doesn’t seem to be the same enthusiasm to decorate when Christmas time rolls around. More into Santa Muerte than Santa Clause I guess.
