Washington Post Says It Won’t Endorse Anyone for President
The New York Times ^ | Oct. 25, 2024, 12:28 p.m. ET | Benjamin Mullin and Katie Robertson

The Washington Post’s chief executive told the newsroom on Friday that it would not endorse a presidential candidate, breaking with decades of precedent at the newspaper.

“The Washington Post will not be making an endorsement of a presidential candidate in this election,” wrote Will Lewis, The Post’s chief executive. “Nor in any future presidential election. We are returning to our roots of not endorsing presidential candidates.”

The Post has endorsed presidential candidates since 1976, Mr. Lewis wrote, when it gave its stamp of approval to Jimmy Carter, who went on to win the election. Before that, it generally did not make presidential endorsements, though it made an exception in 1952 to endorse Dwight Eisenhower.

The move follows continuing tumult at The Los Angeles Times, where the head of the editorial board and two of its writers have resigned this week in protest over a decision by The Times’s billionaire owner, Patrick Soon-Shiong, to block a planned presidential endorsement.

The Post has endorsed presidential candidates since 1976...

That would have been Peanut Boy.

"We are returning to our roots of not endorsing presidential candidates."

They must believe it is going to be a landslide for Trump.

Personally, I don’t think they should endorse anyone for president. A true and honest “media” SHOULDN’T TAKE SIDES. They are supposed to report the news and try to get the weather right as well as the sports scores.

They know Kamala can’t win. She was never even supposed to be the nominee.

The Publisher told the newsroom the monkeys can’t run the zoo anymore?

Jeff grew a pair?

There’s hope.

Bezos is shaking in his boots. Trump has threatened to go after those who commit vote fraud. And Bezos has committed some highly illegal acts in the past.

Do they still home delivery the Post? The driveways in my neighborhood don’t seem littered with it anymore.

You have to wonder if Bezos and the L.A. Times owner talked about this—and agreed to give each other some cover.

The Washington comPost doesn’t need to endorse Kamala... We all know that the entire editorial board and pretty much every writer and columnist working for it endorses Kamala... They’re attempting to look non-partisan... But they are clearly partisan, so nice try... The MSM press has been exposed as a propaganda machine for the Democrat party, and people have stopped believing in their nonsense.

In our state (CT) the main newspaper is no longer even headquartered in the state.

They mail a cooking section with recipes for free—my wife uses some of the recipes from time to time.

The newspaper delivery boxes are gone from this rural area. I don’t even know if they could deliver the real newspaper at this point.

They are and were horrid Commie propaganda—just brutally bad.

This may be hopelessly optimistic—but perhaps some of the Northern Virginia mushy liberal folks will get the message and stay home instead of voting for Kommie-La.

It looks like VA is in play at this point—so it could matter.

So they continue to write articles promoting Harris and disparaging Trump? The emperor has no clothes.
