RSV SHOT -Yes or No for 80+ Husband and Wife?

Posted on 10/19/2024 9:58:07 AM PDT by TNoldman

My Wife and I are in your late 80's. This years when planning to get an annual Flu Shot we were asked to get an RSV also. We did get out Flu Shot yesterday but no RSV was available. Was that a SIGN ?

Would a FReeper(s) with some knowledge contribute to this discussion?

With some specialist knowledge in the subject, I would not get an mRNA vaccine. You do not want to present an antigen on your cell surface right next to your own “self” cell surface proteins.

When making a vaccine in a lab to some peptides which the body is resistant to forming an immune reaction to, one method of getting the body to attack the peptide is conjugation, binding the peptide to a larger more immunogenic peptide which the immune system cannot ignore. The proximity produces an immune response, even against peptides which are supposed to be there, like hormones.

When you take these big foreign proteins, and have them produced inside the cell, and let them float up and lodge in the membrane, they are getting all around your own cell surface receptors, and begging the immune system to begin producing antibodies to them, and those antibodies can be stimulatory or repressive, and that can affect things like cell proliferation rates, or just wreck tissues.

mRNA is a bad idea, and they should have stayed with simple peptide vaccines.

I’m 74, haven’t had a vaccine of any kind since ‘74 (1974). Never regretted not getting one. I was sick almost constantly until I quit getting them. Only been sick a few times since.

Until a couple years ago, RSV was just a children's disease.

As far as I know - before Covid - only children were vaccinated.

For the elderly, unless you have underlying heart or lung issues, RSV is usually just a common cold.

If you have had the pneumococcal vaccines, you probably have nothing to worry about.

IF both are NOT around ALOT of other people & are in basically good health—I would say pass.

I am days short of 85.

NO FLU SHOTS—EVER

NO COVID SHOTS-—EVER

NO RSV shots-—EVER

Review your own health history & apply GOOD SENSE.

Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) Shot.

I get no shot, including the flu shot

Just the way I am.

Perhaps this will help or it could be propaganda.

What you need to know about this year’s new RSV vaccine recommendations

This blurb automatically raises my thought to heck no. No mRNA cocktail allowed in this body:

There is one additional vaccine available this year, the Moderna mRNA vaccine called mResvia, which got FDA approval in May. It is approved for people 60 and older.

Well, infants & the elderly are the most vulnerable, but I still won’t get these shots. Never have, never will. If it’s my time then its my time. I would automatically reject an mRNA cocktail without hesitation. 😋

Oh, brother...good old San Fran Chronicle...
Pregnant people

Pregnant people who are between 32 and 36 weeks gestation are urged to get vaccinated...

Just when you thought this crap MIGHT be dying, they resurrect it.

I’m 73

I took it because my community has a lot of it going around one can easily end up in the hospital or worse

I had no ill side effects

Ask your doc my guess is he’d like you to take it

I’m a hospitalist-certified pharmacy technician in the Midwest, and give these vaccines all the time, many of whom are our regular patients. I have yet to hear about anything more severe than a sore arm or feeling a little crummy for a day or two.

That said, even though I’m immunocompromised, I don’t get any vaccines anymore. I also refuse to give the COVID shots due to a total lack of data.

Considering I don’t know your health history, if you have a doctor you trust, that’s someone you should have this discussion with. On the off-chance you do catch RSV, I spoke to a patient yesterday who contracted it and said they were sick for a couple of weeks, and spent part of it hospitalized. It’s a lower-respiratory infection which is resistant to treatment.

I hope you find the answers you’re looking for.

RSV ain’t the flu you will likely end up in hospital

“”I also have never been sick since I was 9 when I almost died from the Hong Kong Flu.””

Remember it well. Today we wouldn’t be allowed to call it the Hong Kong flu. My husband and I were so sick in January 1969 with it. We stayed home from work all week. Absolutely miserable and all we could do was get to the kitchen to get oranges out of the fridge and crawl back into bed. Never saw a doctor and other than the shots he’d had in the military, we were both “shotless” for many years.. Don’t remember ever having the flu after that year.

I have COPD and get the flu and pneumonia shots for that reason only - also shingles as I’ve had that and don’t care to get it again. First vaccines I’ve ever had in my 88 years..even growing up when polio was rampant.

I get a lecture from the Pulmonologist because I say NO when he asks if I want the RSV...I’ll see him soon and the conversation will be the same! My pharmacy ALSO reminds me but I don’t get a lecture from them.

Yes the RSV is the same type of “vaccine” as covid. In May I went for my yearly physical and the Dr was reading off the list of vaccines I could get. When she came to RSV she said nope and skipped to the next one on the list. I only got the second pneumonia shot. By the way I am 77.

Call me “jaded” but I believe that pharmaceutical companies work on vaccines THEN, they come up with names of dread illnesses to apply them to - (ended with a preposition). IOW, working backward! Got a name - we need a problem!

As to the names they attach to them - they draw them out of a hat like drawing names at Christmas time. Of course, when they’re put in the hat, they are single letters so it’s one letter at a time until someone says, “that’s it - that will do.”

Crazy? No doubt but like I said, I’m OLD......

I had the Hong Kong flu in 1968 and it was easily the sickest I ever was in my life. Barely left the bed for 10 days. Covid was a walk in the park compared to that one.

Either that or they know these virus are being manipulated to create them, so that they can have a vaccine on the ready to roll out, just as they did for Covid, which they had patents on before Covid became a thing.

No, you are not jaded, you just have prior experience in this new world of constant illnesses cropping up when needed. To both make money, and cull the herd as well. also, to influence how elections are are undertaken. 🙂👍
