“”I also have never been sick since I was 9 when I almost died from the Hong Kong Flu.””
Remember it well. Today we wouldn’t be allowed to call it the Hong Kong flu. My husband and I were so sick in January 1969 with it. We stayed home from work all week. Absolutely miserable and all we could do was get to the kitchen to get oranges out of the fridge and crawl back into bed. Never saw a doctor and other than the shots he’d had in the military, we were both “shotless” for many years.. Don’t remember ever having the flu after that year.
I have COPD and get the flu and pneumonia shots for that reason only - also shingles as I’ve had that and don’t care to get it again. First vaccines I’ve ever had in my 88 years..even growing up when polio was rampant.
I get a lecture from the Pulmonologist because I say NO when he asks if I want the RSV...I’ll see him soon and the conversation will be the same! My pharmacy ALSO reminds me but I don’t get a lecture from them.
I had the Hong Kong flu in 1968 and it was easily the sickest I ever was in my life. Barely left the bed for 10 days. Covid was a walk in the park compared to that one.
